The metal tanks from India are crap, so don't expect the fibre glass ones to be any better. I would seriously steer clear. I would hope it would be possible for the people that reproduce the good Lc tanks would consider doing the same for 31k's ? Be a result if they did, and I'm sure they would sell as many, if not more than the Lc version. Dusty

Norbo would be the man to ask. I heard a rumour it was Lintek, but don't know if that's right or not. I'm sure Norbo will have his finger on the pulse Dusty

Just purchased the red 1 , I was thinking the same about the rust, it looks like a residue or some shit not rust. Sure here nothing. Thanks for the replies lads.

If the red one works out, might try something drastic on my own f**ked tank. Cut the under side out of it and make a stainless or aluminium tank to fit snugly into it.π€ =π+β+π =π=π

Not that silly an Idea. Might be possible to scrounge up a Plastic (polyethelene?) Fuel tank Or 2 from some machine ie: Garden tractors, Lawn Care gear, Generators.. etc. and use the Yama tank as a simple package to enclose the things. Reads as odd but might actually prove workable

The Ethanol in pump fuel will start to attack the polyester resin very quickly in a grp tank and the tank will go soft in a matter of days , I have made made a few Pre Preg carbon tanks with no issues but a lot of work has gone into them.

i was thinking something along the lines of the small boat fuel bladder. You can purchase corner fill types, they are durable but expensive, just need to figure out someway of attaching the bladder fill port to the rd tank cap, wouldn't look like a dick taking the tank off the bike when filling up in the garage.)>, put a filter in line some where and it should work. No more f**king rust(>.

yeah was reading about the ethanol and resin, there is polyester resin which is shit, epoxy resin which is slightly better but Vinylester seems to the man for fuel tanks. I sent an email to the guy in india enquiring what his tanks were made from - No reply as of yet. Pre Preg carbon tanks? what are these

Pre preg is carbon fibre that is impregnated with epoxy resin and thermo set in a oven/autoclave under vacuum/pressure.

I was thinking about making a fibreglass tank cover, with an aluminium tank underneath for my Suzuki RG50LC. The original tank has huge rust holes, far beyond repair, but it could be made into a plug with wire mesh and plaster, and from that you could make a mould to produce a fibreglass replica tank cover. A much more boxy tank would go inside it. That's if I decide to keep it looking standard. I might just fit Metrakit plastics. I do not rate my chances of finding a good tank for a Far-East-Market only bike, as rare as this.

Jaysus it looks a bit flimsy but yeah something like that. Might cut about 1/2" inside tank seam, might give it that bit of strength. Cheers for the postπ

I kid you not... in 2002 I went to the tip with 3 van loads of Brand New RG50 Tanks, wheels, clocks, frames etc... all dumped, obviously pre eBay days
