I would like to purchase a speedometer (UK MPH) to fit to my 1980 350lc although there is nothing wrong with the euro spec one i have other than KPH but it would be nice. Am i wasting my time asking looking? and any idea where best to look

Ebay turns them up fairly regularly if you want a genuine mph. Brace yourself for the wild prices though !

Yeh spotted it but its missing the trip knob, i would be worried about taking mine out of my other clocks in case i broke them. Im under the impression you just pull them out but i always get worried and stop pulling before something snaps

They unscrew I'm sure they are a left hand thread norbo sells them £15 I think

At one time there were small(ish) in line gear boxes. Screw the speedo cable into it type gizmo, that would convert Mph to KPH and the reverse. By altering the gear ratio these gave decent/suitable info.. but the Face would still retain it's KPH printing though Seems as really easy, albeit possibly unsightly. Might still be available?

Stuff worrying about messing with the original clock.
It's in kph and worth next to nothing.
Buy a new face (not decal) from Simon wells, and a new needle for an xt500 off ebay (you will break the original when it pings off)
Carefully uncrimp the bezel and remove.
Trip knob is left hand thread so use long nose pliers to reach past the face and hold the shaft while you unscrew the knob ( don't worry about damaging the face, you're binning it anyway)
Then remove from the case
You need to make a mark on the metal dome part under neath and the metal frame to line up when at 0 mph to ensure you get it the same once you remove the needle as it turns back further than the needle stop.
Prise the needle off (into a pillow case) with 2 small screwdrivers then pick up the broken needle from where it landed.
Change face, line up previous marks and push on the new needle
Face back on, carefully crimp the bezel back.
Dusty's thread is very clear and easy to follow.
You have nothing to lose except that 200 odd quid you will spend on a mph speedo that can sh1t itself at any time

Easy enough to do.. did mine a while ago, got the rigid replacemant facia from ebay and not the shite stick on ones. Used a fork to gently prise needle off without breaking it. Like Steve says better of doing that than spend stupid money on a clock that's prob got issues anyway. ATB.

I was looking for the replacement faces a little while ago, but couldn't see them anywhere, hopefully he's still doing them then.

www.legendary-motorcycles.com/miscparts.html
Another member fitted a GPS speedo in the LC clock cases
Don't know if the above link was similar ?
I have a Hybrid and it wouldn't bother me to fit one but I know folks who want standard
The one thing that would bother me though would be the how it would keep the mileage if at all possible ? Would it be a no no at MOT time etc

My hybrid shows 200, then 27k, then 414, then 12 as I kept changing clocks Steve

I used the ones from Simon, top quality and easier to fit than the sticker type.
