Waiting at a Zebra crossing this morning, first car stops, i started to walking across, second car shunts the first car up the arse pushing it across the crossing, missing by inches.
Been riding bikes for 36 years now and thought i'd used up all my lives, how wrong was i

It's a worry. Standard of driving has has noticeably dropped over the years. No consideration anymore. Dog eat dog.
It's been said before, if you are a biker, someone out there will kill you sooner or later. Trick is to die of something else first.
Have a nice day.

Where I live I have to turn across a main road (dual carriageway) and about once a week I catch a vehicle (usually a 'professional driver' in a truck) steam through the red light after my turn arrow has gone green. I've been compiling my dash cam footage to send to the police, its just crazy now and I worry about getting taken out every time I drive. Im sad to hear the UK has dropped its driving standard, I always wish we had the UK etiquette and standards here :/

Even in sleepy Adelaide. Nearly got taken out last night by an idiot doing a 90 degree left turn right in front of me - he was in the right hand lane, I was in the left, WTF he was thinking I don't know. I had my 9yo daughter and her friend in the back, returning from their netball game. Driving my wife's mini commuter car. If I hadn't had my London-honed motorcycling self-preservation instincts I'm sure it would have been a pair of written off cars, rather than a scuffed hub cap and two terrified kids. Nearly been hit three times like that in the last two weeks. Roll on Google cars, most people aren't safe to have a driving license.
Apart from general selfish arrogance (sign of the times), and distractions (iphones), I suspect part of the problem is that cars have become so capable, comfortable and easy to drive that drivers get slack and careless to the point of dangerous.

Had a close call myself about 5 months ago (closest yet) . Only started riding properly again a month ago. The taxi driver didn't even give me enough time for my life to flash before my eyes. His bumper bar missed my knee by inches as i was counter steering away from him as hard as i could.

Where I am it seems cars will only run while the driver is holding a mobile phone . What with satnavs , dashboard screens etc it seems they don't get time to look where they are going .

Stopped at a ped crossing last sunday very slowly , then the car behind hit me up the ass and pushed mei into the people crossing ,, luckily no casualties . I live in italy now and although the 76 year old guy admitted he didnt see me the italian ( Carabineri) cops still let him drive away and spent 30 mins with me checking MY papers and the bikes brake light etc etc .
I reckon as its a french regiistered bike they thought initialy to give me a hard time as everyone here dislikes the french .on dicovering that i indeed was english but living in italy on a french reg bike with a uk licence seemed to confuse them somewhat .

I thought it was just the British all the Europeans hated! Phew, thanks for the info. Shows that justice isn't seen the same way in other countries, letting the old guy go and focussing on the foreigner!
