Hi, Had a major Do'h ! moment tonight. If anyone has seen any of the pics I have posted of my 4L0 you will know it has a Micron fork brace on it. I put this LC on the road in 2013, with new dust seals. Since then I have replaced the dust seals in 2014, 2016 and now they need done again, as I can see slight splits starting once more in the dust seals. Tonight I messaged Norbo to see if he had any of the fork dust seals in stock, that go over the top of the forks, as mine keep splitting every two years or so. I presumed it was just a thing with Micron fork braces, as the dust seals do go on, but are very tight over the top of the fork brace. I found this pic on the forum that list,s all the numbers for Micron fork braces. As you can see, the correct number for a 4L1/4L0 is 71.76.-54G The fork brace I have on mine is numbers 71.76.-58G, so is for an RD350 YPVS ( which I think is an LC 2) ?? It fits ok, but there are nylon spacers/expanders that go round the fork legs, I thought they were part of the fork brace, as they are very well made, but someone must have made them up, as this fork brace was on an LC I bought years ago. I havnt looked yet, but are Micron fork braces still available ? Mabey I could buy the correct clamps, as the top plate is the same number for the LC,s and YPVS,s, or does (long shot) anyone have a set of 54G clamps for sale ? or want to swap them for a set of 58G clamps. Thanks in advance, Hommer Simpson !

Going to have to decide which is more important to you. Affectation Fork braces or Replacing dust seals. Which normally are good for decades

Hi Bare, Thanks for the reply. I do like the Micron one, but it is obviousely not the correct one for my bike, but once it is on you would never know, and I do think it looks the part. In saying that, I have read that they dont really do much, as the forks flex elsewhere. Its no major hastle stripping the forks off it every two years or so, and its a good excuse to get in and give all the stripped off components a check, "deep clean" and a polish etc. I went and dug out my other fork brace tonight, its a bit skanky, but is all there and the threads etc are all good, so I may just end up tarting that one up and using it, as I have tried it on a set of 4L1/4L0 forks and it fits perfectly. I may well just end up placing the Micron one in my YPVS parts heap ! Im not sure what kind my other/spare one is, is it one of the Telefix ones ? There is no writing or anything on it, appart from the numbers B1 on the underside, and a 1 and 2 to mate up the two clamp halfs. Thanks in advance if anyone can identify what type it is. Cheers, steven.

Hi, I found an antique can of paint stripper the other day at work in a building that was getting cleared out. It was going in the skip, so I thought I would give it a go on my Telefix fork brace. I was hoping that as it was old, it would be "proper" paint stripper and not the guff you get nowadays. I am pleased to report that it was indeed "proper" paint stripper like you used to get. The Telefix brace is coated with a kind of crinkle type finish and the old paint stripper started to work immediately, you could even see the wavy lines/vapour coming out the tin. My glove melted in no time ! It did the job just fine. Not sure wheather to polish up the Telefix one or paint it black again. Cheers, steven.

Micron no longer in business so a new one is not an option.
You do get modern copies, norbo does them as well as on ebay. Think it is fastec that make them
Got one for my lc2 and where it said micron it says YPVS
Think you get the option of RD LC or a tuning fork

....just had a thought after my night shift, so may not be thinking clearly !
Im not too well read on YPVS stuff, my only experience with YPVS,s was a 4L0 I had on the road for a year with a 31K engine in it. LC forks are 32mm o/d, what size are LC2 forks, I know some of the YPVS forks are bigger, but not too sure of the sizes. Im thinking mabey I could get LC2 dust seals ? as they would go over the LC2 fork brace ? Does anyone have a pic of LC2 fork dust seals please ? Thank you and goodnight, im off to bed. steven.
