Just checking the set up of my power valves and I've noticed i have considerable play in the connection joint so the right valve isn't operating as it should, will this have a major affect on the general running of the bike, i don't ride it like i stole it, so i'm not to worried about balls out performance, don't really want to be taking it apart this time of the year, want to be out riding it. Tony PS is it possible to overhaul the power vale units without removing the barrels ?

Play between the powervalves is usually wear on the valve ends
It will still run but obviously not as it should
Also if the valve ends are worn chances are the bushes and seals ain't too good either. Top end needs to come off to service them I'm afraid

You can file down the joining clamp to get a tighter fit, and then overhaul the valves when you next have the top end off.

Have now removed the connecting joint (see photo)and it looks a little knackered.
jackjabba do yo think its worth trying to file it down a bit or replace it, the ends of the power valves don't look to bad.
Any ides where i can get a replacement one from??

I'm sure you're aware but make sure when you re-assemble that it fits together nicely, as both the joint thing and the valve ends can wear and create that looseness. Have examples in my shed of various states, I reckon on getting a bit of weld put on otherwise apparently good valves, and then re-shaping them, down the track.

Having now filed the joint down i'm having trouble accessing the rear connecting joint bolt, should the valves turn through 360 degrees?? or is it a case of shortening my allen key?? the manual says to turn the valves and attach the connecting joint, doesn't say how far they are meant to turn.
Thanks
Tony

Ground the allen key down, now nice and tight, no play in the connecting joint, top end will have to come off after the summer though.
Thanks for your advice gents.
