Just went up to 1.5 oversize on my YPVS engine. It is all standard.
do I need to trim the head gasket to avoid the piston hitting it?

Sorry if this reply sound obvious ....but not if the piston will pass through it! Std. OE gaskets have probably enough clearance as they also need to allow for alignment tolerances but if it's a copper one then just check it.

as well as checking the head gasket, check the power valves aren't catching the rings as at 1.5mm O/S your right on the limit where they can and sometimes do catch, if they do then you need to trim the power valves very slightly
Deleting your second post: look at right hand top corner and click on the down arrow next to the picture of a cog, you will find delete there

PVs clear the rings. Head gasket is marginal so I will take the dremel out and sort it.
Thanks
