We've been having a bit of a discussion about Yams Clean White and what easy to find (not just in the UK, but USA, Canada and Aus etc) colour is close. I know a lot of people swear by Ford Diamond White, but its not available everywhere (not in Aus anyway) and differs from year to year on Fords vehicles, B1-B9 shades etc. It seems GM's Glacier/Casablana white might be an ok match, but I dont know anyone whos every tried it. Do you? Anyway, I thought you might like to see what we've been doing, trying to track down a definitive set of colours to use, and in case anyone had anything more recent and relevant to add to a discussion on this they might want to add it there. eg, I know a few guys in the UK paint LCs and they look great in the pics on here, but what colour are the painters using? does anyone know? Formulas would be wonderful... not every market takes the same colours or uses the same codes, eg 'Ford B4' is a green form a Focus here!?!!? ...anyway, look here if you fancy a read: www.rzrd500.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=14713

I took my parts to the painter last week rear cowl & front guard were NOS so asked him to match to them.
I'll ask him what he came up with to match might help maybe?

That would be wonderful Rob. I know people have had trouble with NOS parts not being the same colour as eachother let alone the older parts, how did yours look?

Jon I was wondering the same as they came from different parts of the world.
We looked at them this week surprising they actually seemed the same colour to us both. I thought for sure they would be different.

I would be really interested in the outcome to all this. I was advised when I bought the bike that my tank was original paint. Unfortunately it's not good enough to keep as you can imagine after 36 years in NZ. Our UV is shocking over here but I might be able to get Nick at our local car repair shop to get a colour match on the bottom of the tank. My problem is that my side panels are mint and I was going to match to those. I'm going to (have to) paint them myself and do the decals as there is no one with the expertise to get it right here and I don't fancy posting them to the other end of the country. Let me know how you get on Jon.

Interestingly my mates workshop van is a white Mazda from the early to mid 90s, its door jams look 'very LC' to me... hmm...

If your paint guy scans the nos paint for you to get a match, can you let us know what the colour is please. On the RDRZ500 forum (see link above) there have been a few put up and adding to that would be great, even better getting a few that are the same...
