Is the seat twisted at all? Should be easy enough to work out if sub frame is dicky.

when on center stand (or paddock stand) how does the subframe and seat look from the back? you should be able to see any twist by uneven indicators or other parts i would think.

You can have one worn seat catch too, so it would not pull the seat down as much on that side. Try just pushing the seat down and see if it looks even while being held down. If so, it could be the catches...

Also, try another seat to see if it is just this one.

Is it a genuine guiliari seat? I only ask because I am sure I read that the converted ones sometimes get pulled up at the back? Due to how they are made. Could be wrong mind.

Is it a new seat? Did you have any problems with an old seat? Have you rebuilt it? Just trying a process of elimination. Bloody hate it when stuff plays with your head. Hope you get it sorted

As veg says it may be too much tension on the seat cover bending the base
Can't be seat catches to get a finger in. Has to be way out for that

Thanks for your ideas 💡 lads when I get time next week I'm going to strip it all off again as I think something out if you look at the bike from the back one side is clearly higher than other is it just a case of moving (bending) the subframe about ?

Hopefully you should be able to tweak it back. These bikes were never the preserve of "careful" riders and I'll bet 90% of them have visited the tarmac rubberside up! So it's not unusual for summat to be little out. Which is why after buying something to restore, visiting a motoliner could be a wise move.

Hi Pete Can you post the rear light pic up that you sent me ? I think your subframe may be twisted, presuming everything was bolted up when you took the pic. If you thought a seat catch was worn, you could put some washers between the top of the catch and the underside of the bracket it bolts to, to lower the catch and see if it lines up, but I think it may be more than that.

No worry mate Just that the pic you sent me made me think there was a (possible) subframe problem, and I think it's worth posting it for others to see and offer opinions. Dusty

Hi I had a similar problem when I finished my 350. Turned out to be a twisted subframe. Easily fixed with a scaff tube and protection on the frame. Cheers

Just done the same with the bike Kees crashed. I also lifted the back up a little whilst the subframe was hand tight. Next job the rest of the frame.

OMFG! Absolutely thats got to be a bent subframe, and maybe also the rear spars too?
If you strip those parts all off and stand it on its center stand, and measure down to the ground, are the side the same length to the ground? If they are, then fit another subframe and see what thats like as it looks miles out.

Two words: Dry Build.
This sort of thing has caught my mate out twice.
I always dry build as it's easier to sort out before paint.

Cheers webbo i take you twisted back with the subframe bolted on i,m going too try sort this out tomorrow as its doing my nut in Yes, I just removed seat, painted bits and protected the frame with bits of rubber where the scaff pole touched. I got 2 other people to steady the bike and bend it a bit at a time measuring as you go. It all seems like a nightmare but once you get dtuck in it's all part of the build. Good luck
