I got a call last night from a friend of mine who rebuilt my 31k engine a while back and has been storing it in his garage, he has been burgled over the weekend and they've taken my engine his rebuilt 250 YPVS engine, most of his tools and bits. He's gutted to say the least and we don't hold out much hope of seeing anything again but I'll post the engine number when I get it, if people could keep an eye out for it in sales. It's thrown my matching numbers LC2 rebuild a spanner for sure, but I can always get another set I suppose.
Right the LC2 serial number is 31K-005613 It was fully built with stator, side covers and carbs, it also had the round exhaust washers hooped over the spark plugs.

Hi Howard, no CCTV, they came in through the back of the house, it must have taken them a while because there was a fair amount of stuff to steal, and an engine isn't exactly light or easy to carry around, his insurance might cover most of it but he can't honestly say what's been taken in full, who could really?

Car boot sales as well and any auto jumbles if you find any for sale don't approach them as it will spook them and the stuff will go missing maybe buy back a tool or two photograph them and any vehicle including the reg number with them and 'try' passing to the old bill

That's terrible news - really sorry for you both Opportunists, or do you reckon they knew what was in there ? Stories like this make my blood boil. I would love to get my bikes out on the driveway more often, but I hate the thought of passers by knowing what is in my garage, so I keep the door shut and struggle around in a space that is too small for 3 bikes. I did a px on the 385 bike I was selling. Littlebloke trailered his hybrid down and was parked outside my house. I had the 385 and another of my hybrids on my driveway. There was a youngish bloke walking his dog on the other side of the road - I was watching him as I've never seen him before - and he didn't take his eyes off the bikes all the time he was slowly walking past. He actually walked into a bush coz he was looking at us rather than where he was going. Probably innocent enough, but you never know and it always leaves me with an uneasy feeling. And although I live in a fairly safe area, houses round here have suffered a spate of burgularies in recent weeks. You don't have to be a victim of crime for it to alter the way you live, and as other recent posts have mentioned, all too often the offenders are never caught. I hope you get the parts and tools back, and justice gets served to the thieving bas***ds that stole them. Dusty

It's a horrible, sickening feeling being burgled. I really feel for you. Fingers crossed you get your engines back.

Dusty I live in a quiet cul de sac but I'm reluctant to have my bikes out on the drive unless it's necessary. We still get a few people passing as there's a footpath close by , if I have a bike out and they take an interest I take a photo of them on my phone , some don't like it but tough shit . David

B4starda!
Check with neighbours or even further up the street to see if any other CCTV images were recorded around the time....

This really sucks. I don't understand how could someone have the heart, conscience or mind to do something like this! I mean, why steal? Beg or borrow! I just hope that you and your friend manage to trace your parts and engine back. This is upsetting.

Daryl
