milage, well... rubber just doesnt like the heat and the oil really and will always eventually die.

Take a carefull look at the condition of the PV's Ali Bearing shaft bits. Even Pressed in oilite bushings are several orders of magnitude harder / longer wearing. Foolish...pointless actually, to replace those if the PV shafts/bearing surfaces are worn out. Be surprised if they weren't :-) CLEVER to have the PV's Sleeved with steel tubes and your Existing Bushes reamed to fit those sleeved shafts. Likely a helluvalot cheaper and decidedly more durable.

Thanks all.
I've asked them what the seals are made from.
Will post the reply.

Reply.... "don't know the the exact terms or specs as we don't make them, but the red seals are silicone based and the black rubber"
Make of that what you will.

Not sure about the quality of their parts.... The YPVS clutch arm bearing and the gear drum bearing they sell are both oversize by about 0.05mm. I am going to bin them and get some OEM Yamaha ones.

But they have more needles so must be better😜 They must be bigger needles too, which is even better! I was thinking about heating the casing up and freezing the bearings, but the OEM clutch arm bearing is a tight enough fit, so an even tighter fit may not be removable in the future without causing damage. The Gear selector drum bearing would be easy enough to fit with heat/freezing etc, but again would be a lot more difficult to remove in the future. The bearings say the sizes...i.e. 42 36 12 for the gear selector drum bearing, which match the OEM bearings numbers, but not made accurately enough, so are either B-grade parts, or knock-offs from China....

Mental... you dont need an uprated shift drum bearing or a clutch arm brg... neither do very much work at all, only ever shifting a fraction of a turn at a time.

I was just only aiming at replacing my 30+ year old bearings as the Legend ones seemed a good price - about half the Yamaha prices, not really after uprated, just newer.

considering the work involved at getting at both those bearings its false economy (IMHO) to fit cheaper aftermarket parts that aren't quiet right, I'd just bite the bullet and fit the genuine Yamaha ones, but that's me !

Hopefully everyone now knows that the Legend bearings are not fit for purpose....just fit for the bin :-)

Fair points well made, I always swap these bearings as most of my old parts are very well used, but only every fit OEM for those.
There were also some horrors of clutch and other plain bearings that TSS and I think Legend sold, those never fitted either. On the other hand the uprated transmission bearings were fine. pays yer money and takes yer choice as they say...

Yeah I did that.. believing it too... Got New oem yama bushes. All of them. Their tolerances were widely differing. Laughably so imo. Don't believe the Brochure Babble claims by some re clearance sizing to suit temperatures anticipated. Again; Have a capable Shop heat shrink on steel sleeves to the PV shafts .. Then ream the existing Bushes for a considered fit. Easy, fairly inexpensive and a Permanent 'fix'

Got my OEM Yamaha Clutch Arm Bearing, and that is slightly oversize too. Measures 21.53mm, so the Legend ones look like they will be okay to use at half the price too. They are within 0.01mm of the OEM part.

They are within 0.01mm of the OEM part. Quite a few oem parts have changed. One I have noticed visually is the small input shaft bearing, I believe original did not have the groove. I tried old and new (gen) on a shaft, and the old (no groove) had less play.

Did a search on Legend as I couldn't fit the gear change drum bearing as it was too big by 0.05mm, seems like I'm not the only one with a problem. I keep saying I'll stop buying second hand or cheap parts.............

The later supplied TSS ones didnt fit either, originally he supplied OEMs in packets but later they were obviously from another source.
