Guys need a bit advice please, I've stripped the frame ready for prep and powder coating, do I take the head bearings and lower yolk off or not? (Someone's already fitted new head bearings in ) cheers antos

I take the yoke out,clean all the grease out Then bolt a bit of studding through it with a big washer top and Bottom to cover the cups Matt

Make sure you get the grease out though When they bake the powdercoat on it blows out of everywhere and messes it up

Hi A good powdercoaters, used to doing bikes, should have an assortment of bungs that can be used to blank off key areas. Yogi's idea is great, and if you are not sure if your firm will do it then take some time before you deliver it to them. I also fit old bolts to all the threadways - don't wind them all the way through though or the end of the bolt gets coated and you'll struggle to get it out. And as Matt says, thoroughly degrease the parts - the oven will melt it and it will dribble out ruining your new finish. Dusty

Many thanks dustyπ I do have a set of metric taps but suppose old bolts in the holes would save me tapping the all out again. Great tip.
