Few years ago i polished my fork legs on my lc and have had no problems.
But this year the cold as had an effect on the legs,
I know i should have used clear coating to protect them.
What would you guys recommend using after you have got that gleaming look,to keep them looking good all year round.
Thanks

I take a few minutes to polish them when I take the bike off the road end of the year and then let them dull over the Winter to look as they should(to me anyway) come Spring.
Lacquer doesnt seem to last very long nowadays and when it starts to flake or discolour, its even more of a bind to remover and repeat the process.

I've toyed with buying a rattle can of 2k lacquer but as copper says if it does go iffy it's a bugger to get off.

I have used a wadding product called Neverdull , seems to hold up well over here where it's hot and humid , not sure if available in UK ... I remember using something similar called duraglit but that was on brass..prob good on ally too. I don't think there is a substitute for elbow grease.... Paul

I used some stuff off ebay that is a lacquer with an etching product in it and so far its held up well. If not normal 2k works ok but the legs need to be very clean i.e keep wiping with a rag soaked in thinners until the black stuff stops appearing on the cloth

all of the above are good but i prefer Belgom Alu, I got a bottle of it from my Dad for my 21st.. it might still be in the shed.. Anyway, I polished a LC clutch cover about 20 years ago with it and left that in my shed until coming across it the other month. the finish was dusty (Barn Find.. haha) and surprisingly it was still shiny, a bit duller than it was originally but not white and fluffy as i had expected.. the best bit was the rest of the bike i had attached it to seems to have survived ok too.
