Hi YSS is great value at around £230 at the mo from Brooksbarn on ebay. Nitron are great but at around £400 - a fair bit more, although they do build them to your weight and riding style. Both are length adjustable, plus preload and rebound. I'd be happy with either Dusty

I got one for a second lc i"m building and it feels fairly stiff even with the preload backed off.. I"m hoping it will "bed in " when as i put a few miles up ...

No, not that one, it's not length adjustable. You need the MZ366-315TRL-13-X according to my booklet Dusty

I have a YSS rear shock on my road LC and it works fine. You can adjust the damping if it is too stiff. The spring is suitable for someone around 15 stone, so if you are only 8 stone, you may need a lighter spring fitted.

2 year guarantee on the YSS too - same as the Nitron.

Yep, certainly bolt in with no problems. Quality looks awesome for the money. I've had 3 of them now, and if I need a new shock then they are top of my list coz of the value - the difference between YSS money and Nitron is rebore and new pistons territory ! Having said that the Nitron is such a nice shock. They take your weight and riding style and build the shock to suit - probably a bit overkill on an Lc but still nice to have. The length adjustable facility is what I like as I like my Lc's to sit a bit higher at the back. There was a good vid on YouTube of Nitron building up a shock. I bought my Ypvs one after watching that !! I'm sure you would be well happy with either. Dusty

I fitted a yss adjustable to my 4l1 a few months ago I didnt think tbh it would have been be much different . I was so wrong , its like night and day ,, no bouncing , the rear is defi more planted and it seems to have stopped the slight bar weave over 120 kph . Imo one of the best add ons you could do to an lc .

Sv650 shock as a budget alternative

Sv650 shock as a budget alternative no, its just 'cheaper'... Ok, thats semantics really and Im sounding like bare now ...but (as he and) I found out when buying them, Suzuki cheaped out on the SV and its shock is nothing like the OEM, let alone the YSS, Hagon or nitron etc

I've just purchased a YSS shock from Brooksbarnparts on EBay, £241.92 incl delivery. Also some progressive fork springs from Norbo. (+ a shed load of other bits n bobs to tidy the bike up a bit form EBay, Norbo & Fowlers... it's an expensive lark owning a classic LC )

Hi I think the SV shock is 330mm long - standard Lc is 315. The Sv cant be shortened by adjusting either so you are stuck with the ride height it gives. Plus it will be a second hand shock, so wear will have taken some toll. I had one on an Lc2 - worked ok but not a patch on a YSS or Nitron.

Hagon great shocks no affiliation

I think Hagon have upped their game recently. I used to think their shocks looked a little cheap with the finish them came in. They certainly have a good rep, and have been around a long time. I'm sure someone here fitted a new one and it looked so much better than they used too. Spose you gotta keep up with the rest ! I know when I ordered my first YSS, I asked the fella ,who was dealing in many different makes, which he would have out of a YSS and a Hagon, and at the time he said the YSS looked a classier unit, and more "worth the money", hence me getting one. There are also Wilbers shocks but they are more money - Nitron territory, and when I looked that only got you a basic shock. Dusty

I have a Wilbers shock and it is good. It came with the bike and in my lack of knowledge or understanding i swapped it for an original shock. What a mistake i had an pogostick that regularly bottomed out. bare a forum member, thinks the sv shock is a bad idea. Some of the tips he has given have worked very well so i would not go there.

I seam to remember YSS saying in their advertising they make shocks for a lot of the big manufacturers so it wouldn't surprise me if they don't re-badge and re-style a lot of stuff. I'm not knocking their gear and for less than £250 think its a bloody good price considering you pay silly money for suspension equipment these days. Anyone priced WP, Ohlins or K-tech recently ? I know where I'll be spending my money

Interesting read guys, cheers.
I'm fairly tall (6 foot) so I was hoping a slightly longer shock would raise the seat height a bit. (my stock shock is old and tired) I was a little worried the bike would become a little twitchy or oversteer but maybe I'm over thinking it?
