nice one, if it rattles its probably a broken baffle.. if its quiet, maybe a mouse took up residence when it was sitting...

Hi,
Had same problem with my F2. Thought it was electrical or carburation. Eventually sussed that exhausts were blocked with carbon. Baffles can't be removed on F2 and tried caustic but didn't work. Replaced my exhausts with a set of Allspeeds, problem solved. Now if caustic doesn't work I use blow torch down end of exhaust and leave exposed to flame until exhaust stops smoking. Worked for my TDR exhausts.

I had an f2 about 20 years ago and the previous owner had removed the end cans, had a mounting face welded on and fitted tz type end cans. Which can be stripped and rebuilt.

Right guys I left the exhaust stood up last night, this morning a black sludge oil has came out ! Blew through it and less restriction, so I removed the little screw on bottom of can and more (liquid came out so I've been at it all day shaking and blowing through it till it's nearly the same as the other pipe now. so the question is what the heck is it? My worst thought is left crank oil seal gone . Hope not any thoughts lads? Cheers Tony

A leak down test will check the crank seals without stripping the engine.

If the crank seals go do you get no pressure out of the exhaust pipe? As that's what's happening . Confused . Spent all weekend on the thing,

If the crank seals go do you get no pressure out of the exhaust pipe? As that's what's happening . Confused . Spent all weekend on the thing, If you do a leak test ( Need to buy a kit) you will fit a blank plate over the exhaust port and carb inlet manifold then use a bicycle inflator to pump air through the inlet manifold the kit has valve fitted. if the pressure drops rapidly you will notice it's possibly leaking from the inlet manifold so spray some soapy water on to see, if you can't see it leaking more than likely it will be the crank seals or even from the casings ? But if the casings you would see oil and fuel ?
