Well I have taken delivery of my 250lc last night, I started it up this morning and first kick it fired up, But it would not rev so I stripped the carbs and now that's sorted, My plans are just to get it MOT'd and registered, Then collect parts I need to restore it.

Sounds like a good plan mate, looks like it will be a very nice bike. I hope so, The first thing I did after getting it running nice was replace the autolube pipes as they were brittle and I like clear pipes so you can see it is getting an oil feed.

Nice bike. Always good to have a complete runner to start with. Your garage looks a touch tidier than mine

I bought 1 off the same guy a couple of weeks ago, Mine needs a lot more work and parts than yours, Looks almost all there, good luck with it. I probably paid more for mine bud as I think I paid top money as I made 7 bids and offers on 7 bikes in 10 days and was beat every time so I just thought f--k it and pressed buy it now.

I think it was a fair price for the condition, most of its original, he has another 1 on there now in not so good condition as yours, He sells lots of them and I think his prices are fair and he is quite helpful, He sent me a baffle as he had 1 spare for nothing just post, He delivered it to me for free as i only live 30 miles away, I would not beat yourself up about the price its what they go for, Parts are not cheap though are they, but the shop on here is reasonable. I agree Kev is a nice chap we had a fair old chat, As for parts I will be popping round to Norbo's house again as I need nearly a grands worth of stuff just off him. But I'm in no rush as I need to get it registered first.

Well I put a new battery on the little RD tonight, to check the electrics, the rear indicators were wired in the wrong way round so I had a right front & left rear on, Also a bad earth due to dodgy connectors, other than that everything works, all the bearings are fine so just the front brake to free off but I'm sure that won't be a problem for me being a HGV mechanic!!!! I gave the carbs a very quick strip and clean as it wouldn't rev, now thats all sorted for now anyway. I couldn't believe the radiator when I took a look at it! It hasn't got one bent cooling fin on it front or rear, I was amazed as normally people catch them with their knuckles when cleaning or stones do damage. Then put it in for MOT next week and finally the paperwork to get it UK registered. Then carry on collecting new parts for a few months before the strip down.

I have managed to get the front brake freed off by pumping it full of grease, then just cleaned every thing up,
Ive got it fitted and bled up, ARN'T THE BRAKES SHITE!!!!!
I may upgrade the front brake purely for safety purposes ie twin discs & calipers and maybe a more modern master cylinder and braided lines.
The suspension will have the same treatment as its a little bouncy, I just want it to stop and handle better.

And look at all the space in the cave - oh to have all that room Dusty Cheers bud, I was a little worried using our mig welder at work as I'm a HGV mechanic and its a big old thing usually I'm welding 10mm plate but then again the rest of the welds that Mr Yamaha has done on the frame leave a lot to be desired too. Here the mountings are on, I did tickle them up a little after this pic was taken as the spring mount was a little worn and I had also nicked one of the mountings cutting them off the old tube.

I would fill in the spring mount with weld if it were me, Easier now than later when you have painted it. I did it just after the pic was taken.

Hopefully I will have everything ready for powder coating at the weekend, My mate Mark at Powder & paint does a great job he puts it on so thin it's like paint,
But I have bottled it with the cylinders and head I think I will paint those myself,
Would you say the side casings are satin black or gloss black!!!!!

Ok Mark has gloss, satin or matt. I will do the cylinders and head satin.

Well I have my crank cases and other parts from Vapor blasting and I am very happy with them, I have now built up the gearbox, The frame and other parts are getting powder coated, I have painted the barrels and head today and they are drying off now. The engine is still on the original bore which I was amazed to find out and has no wear at all, I will be fitting new rings, little ends and Circlips etc.
