Hi,
Can anyone advise please : The mirror post thread on my master cylinder doesn't look too healthy!.
I am thinking that this is the left handed thread (on the right hand handlebar), so with this in mind are there any left hand thread inserts available to repair this with?, or can any of you guys recommend a repairer if it is possible?
As ever, any help much appreciated.
bezzer.

Hi Steven,
Many thanks for the heads up mate, I didn't even realise such adaptors were available.
I will look into which is the correct thread size I'll need.

A 'Bodge' solution is to Use JB Weld as thread repair. That said; it's cheap and easy.. it also works.. until you drop the Bike of course.

Thanks Bare, that's the 2 part epoxy stuff isn't it?, have you had good results with it personally?.I also remember reading about a 'liquid metal repair filler' somewhere too?. Whatever the fix I'm hoping not to test it by dropping the bike!.

Yesss it works Reasonably well. I've fixed a master cyl Mirror thread with this. JB Weld is a 2 part epoxy.. surprisingly strong actually. Just what I have on hand.. there may be other local to you variants. Smeared it carefully into the messed threads/hole/ then screwed in a lightly oiled mirror stem. Lubed as to prevent the epoxy from sticking to the stem. Careful though too much lube messes the procedure. After a half hour the Goop has set enough to be mostly solidified .. at which point the stem can be .. gingerly.. unwound. Next day it's Good to go. Although best to not overtighten the thing too much G'luck.

Thanks for the top tip Bare, wouldn't have thought to lube the threads, albeit sparingly, but it does make sense.
Will investigate my options this week, thanks again bud.
