Yeah they are cracking bikes, I had a brand new Mk1 in Candy blue in 1983 when I was 17 and have a white 10W Mk1 now, proper good fun.
Can't see them ever being quite as popular as the Fizzy, virtually EVERYONE had a Fizzy at 16 but nowhere near as many 17yr olds had 125LC's ?

When I was learning in 1984/5, no one had a Fiz, it was all TS/AR/DT/MT50s , plenty had or went on to RD125s thou, I guess it depends a little on your age.

Yeah I know what you mean but what I was meaning was that if/when you were 16 and unrestricted Fizzies were readily available, that's what you had.
I was 16 in 1983, I had an unrestricted Fizzy and so did virtually every 16yr old that could get hold of one.
Move on a few years and there's a new era of moped, all restricted to 30mph but a range of attractive bikes, so the spread of different models across owners was much wider.

Ah, takes me back. In 86 I went for a 77 Fizz, despite the new expensive fancy models appearing. Too slow for me- I had to start work at 7.30 am In 87- the RD was out- shadowed by the TZR- expensive- and because it was newer, fewer performance parts were available. I went for a MK2 and it still it got me to work quicker than the fancy models. That LC has been restored well, but that price, as well as the other fizzys, it too high for me.

Andy I kn ow what you are saying. You can ask what you like. Doesn't mean it will sell at that price. Things are getting really silly now. However. I think it's a 2 stroke thing personally. People of our age 40's 50's with a bit of spare cash, who had these bikes at 17/18 are re living their youth and pushing the prices up. A kid of 17 ain't going to look at an Rd 125 twin stood next to a yzf125r and take the stroker. It just ain't cool.He/she has no idea what they are missing out on. It's a pyramid affect. 500's got too expensive them 400's 350's 250's next 125's. 50's are always going to be expensive. Everyone would love a ped in their garage.

no defo not it may be restored but not to a 4k value. i'd expect a full gen yam resto for that and that one isnt It is a full genuine yamaha restoration.Every part is either new or restored genuine Yamaha part. I have sold 5 so guess people think the are worth the money, not full asking price but not far off. Paint work is done by Phil at Holmetech so spot on. I think all little 2 strokes are shooting up in value not just RD125s. Cheers Rich

WOW. £2k restoring a UK heap is easy though, not many people expected to get the money back though. seen people spending £500 putting a poorly restored one right. Restoration costs have been going up with Yamaha prices and weak pound,. 2 years ago nobody would give me £2k for near mint MK1 125LCs because they were 'imports' like they have aids or something. there certainly seems to be a premium on bikes that started life in UK. Starting to be glad I held on to most of them. 3 x Candy Blues with less than 5k miles, all 1 owners, original handbooks and tool kits. 2 White ones , one with 100 miles and one with 3k miles as above and a Red one with 1500 miles, now in a vacuum bag in a cow shed in Belgium .

Move on a few years and there's a new era of moped, all restricted to 30mph but a range of attractive bikes, so the spread of different models across owners was much wider. You're the same age as me. There were only 2 fizzies in our crew of 10+ lads at times (1983-84 village outside Milton Keynes) The lads riding them loved them but nobody else did. the fizz was one of the first I rode, they did feel more lively and sound different so can see why they remain so memorable. The TS50ER was most popular and then the MTX-50 as we lived near a lot of woods they were good off road, the older lads we knew had bought them on HP to get to work and they trickled down to us to mess about on. The fizzies already looked very tired back then and went for around £50-£75. They always went well though despite hanging together. My 81 MB-5 was mint and cost £150 then traded up to an MTX-50 worth £300 after a bit of dealing in between, sold the MB for what I paid for it, the MTX was a big premium over the fizzies though. The last I remember was a couple of younger lads from the next gen ended up with new AR50s, as Kawasaki kept on making them. There was already an older model AR in our crew ridden by a lass and probably the quickest ped around. The 30MPH restriction was totally irrelevant to us. We used to grab anyone on a Honda and charge them £10 to un-restrict them, two cuts in the exhaust the local welder charged us £2 to close them up (we even borrowed his hacksaw lol), work of art as well
