Hi all My '84 RD350 YPVS 31K will shortly be completed after a full and thorough, and very professional restoration by Cider County 2 Strokes. I have yet to see her in the flesh, but the photos look stunning. Originally a Belgium bike, has matching frame / engine numbers and from the factory was a LC2. Has been converted at some point to a "N" model, which I prefer. For the restoration, I left as an N, and kept the red frame, which looks superb. I've got some Gibson allspeeds for it made up, and other than that is pretty standard, apart from the rebore had to +0.75. And had the frame / lockstops mod done to accept UK key / steering lock rather than the original annoying frame based lock. I've attached a few photos to give an idea of what she will look like. So a couple of questions: 1) Which firms would you recommend (if any) for guaranteed insurance value? 2) How much should I insure her for? Thanks Steve

Peter James insurance. To replace a bike of such quality IMO at least 6K. They did not ask many questions with me and agreed first time. I used to look in on the cider county website. Guy builds some lovely bikes. Although I contacted him once with a view to buying and he never got back to me.

I have an agreed valuation with Peter James of £7450 for my 350N that was easy enough to do - fill out an online form listing what has been done and costs involved such as paint, new parts etc, then they asked for four photos including one showing the reg number. Premium was £108 this year so quite reasonable considering the valuation I think.

Id would AT LEAST TRY and get an agreed valuation on the total cost of the resto/rebuild and bike, they can only negotiate you down then, if they accept it, happy days....start on the high(er) side would be my advice.
Lovely bike anyway Steve.

just a quick update....tried Peter James online. said 'unable to quote online due to mods and storage?'...bike Not garaged?
(i don't have a garage anymore as we had it converted into a room, instead we have a bloody great wooden building at the rear of my house in an enclosed, secure, walled garden...it has double doors at the front and we call it 'the garage'....a lot more secure than my garage that someone 'attempted' to break into few years ago!)
Anyway....they did send me back a quote with ALL mods confessed too...and there was quite a list....of £111 annual premium..p.s. i have zero no claims at present this included a tentative agreed value of £7k......i'm sure they will want pictures IF i proceed, i think that is pretty flippin good if you ask me !!
i will shop around but, i think it will mean actually ringing the insurance companies direct...due to the amount of mods really.......computer says NO!

If it helps, my original & standard F2 valued at around £2500 is insured with Peter James. Max no claims etc,etc and the premium is £102. I agree with you, I think you are doing pretty well with a quote of £111 and personally, I would look no further but it's your choice.

p.s. i have zero no claims at present
Agreed valuation policies don't usually offer reductions for built-up no claims anyway. £111 seems a reasonable quote to me if the bike is stored in a building constructed of wood .. brick-built garages are less likely to burn down

I took my policy out with Footman James, they were very helpful when i rang for quote and also the bike is kept in wooden workshop with cctv and multiple alarms. They agreed my valuation which i was also happy with.
Ps Great bike you have there.

Bike will look great I'm sure, especially with the red frame...I think that will be an improvement, so wise choice. Can't help with insurance I'm afraid, but agree that the Peter James quote sounds very good. You're not seriously thinking of 'shopping around' after a quote like that are you? To put it in perspective, how much did you pay someone else to do a complete restoration? I'm assuming you didn't do any of the work yourself?
