New boy in the forum, building a YPVS rgv Hprid, don't have a petrol tank, anybody out there modified any other tank to fit?
I'm sure ive seen on an American site someone that had fitted one from an R1 or an R6,
This would fit with my plans to fit the R6 rear end, seats subframe.

Sorry, I can't help directly, but I would suspect you need to clarify which type of YPVS you have.
The 31k is different to the later models, and I suspect this will affect what other tanks can be made to fit which frame.
I may have imagined this, but I thought someone put a Belgarda on a later frame on here some time back?

Its a 31K, thought the later tanks only had the filler changed, wont they fit?

Its a 31K, thought the later tanks only had the filler changed, wont they fit? Not easily made to fit if at all, the frame rails are different widths and the tanks are fixed in different ways, that said anything can be made to fit, it depends on how determined you are and what your skills are like.

Hi Welcome to the forum. The Belgarda tank would be a good choice as it's made from a tough plastic by Acerbis, so you'll never have any rust issues. The problem is they don't easily fit a powervalve frame unfortunately, so you would need to mod the frame for it to fit. It can be done as that silver bike shows. I did offer up a Belgarda tank to an F2 pv frame, and as the pics show, you need to mod for the front and back of the tank; The Belgarda has 2 separate petrol taps if I remember right, which will be in the way, plus you would need to fab something to actually fix it to the frame. hth Dusty

Dusty, I think you'll admit though, that once modified the Belgarda tank looks good as an alternative tank?
That's what the question was. I'd personally go for a standard 31k tank to save the hassle of modifying the frame irreversibly. But on the other hand if that's the intention, then why not use a Belgarda tank, as as you say rust will not be an issue in years to come.

I fitted a Belgarda (tzr125 4DL) tank on my latest ypvs hybrid. I had to modify frame and weld on new mounts front and rear Looks Really good on bike.I also made new subframe up to fit a modified single seat unit from a vj21 race bike. When I learn how to do photo bucket I will post up a few pictures of my hybrids. Baz

They do look really nice on bike, quite easy to make fit if you your fabrication skills up to it.(I'm a pipefitter/fabricator/welder) As dusty said they have two fuel taps,I just use the rear one as there's plenty of room for fuel tap and blanked of the front one. As they are plastic made for Yamaha by acerbis,so no rust!! Although as with most plastic tanks they do distort slightly with the ethanol in modern fuels.(tank has taken on a slightly lumpy look) Main problem is capacity, only holds 14litres. On my tuned hybrid when ridden hard(as it always is) I go on to reserve after about 65/70 miles. Things will get worse when I fit my 421cc cheetah cub motor! Baz

That's the one for me, I was always intending to use an r6 tail section, Have bought a tank, currently making a front fixing bracket to utilise an RGV seat lock to enable the tank to be pivoted up for access, Thinking that a custom made oil tank can sit under it in the airbox space. Thank you for the input.

No straight fit that I know of. Anything other than an F2 tank will need some sort of modding I think. Dusty

Don't know what they cost now, but I bought this Belgarda tank a couple of years ago and it cost £60 Dusty Had No idea what a Belgarda was. But that tank looks spectacular. Being plastic is simply a Bonus. Hell I'd cut up/alter any Yama frame.. in an instant... to fit it.
