The F2 should have a smaller 4 Ah instead of 5 Ah battery which was introduced to save weight like thicker brake disks and new wheels. Check page 2 of this file: www.rd350lc.net/1WTfilePress.pdfOld microfiche says GM4A-3B battery model (4 Ah) and since this battery is less long, there is a small rigid foam block glued in the plastic box to avoid any play of the battery (see part 10 microfiche E15). But now Yamaha microfiche at dealer has the information YB5L-B yuasa, and anyway most of the time, people fit the previous battery model and so the small foam block was removed by previous owner. So if you are not an anorak, the YB5L-B yuasa is fine ! Xavier

Didn't realise that, what's the smallest battery you can fit? was thinking of going for a lithium on my next rebuild.

Nearly posted yesterday but thought I would just be being picky
I always thought the UK bikes were 5.5A for the lc2 then 5A for the F2 then going back to 5,5A for the last ones
Its also what the aftermarket catalogues say
Now I'm confused lol

4L0 & 4L1 microfiche says: 131-82110-79 12N5.5-3b so 5.5AH and YAMAHA technical info too: On RD350LC2 31K microfiche says 131-82110-79 Yamaha technical information for the RD350LC2 31K - 12N5.5-3b: RD350F 57V microfiche says: 131-82110-61 Yamaha technical info 12N5.5-3b RD350F2 1WT microfiche says 43F-82110-60 GM4A-3B Yamaha technical info says nothing But I think that smaller battery for the F2 was a commercial argument but then to avoid to have 2 different batteries at YAMAHA dealers and since the F2 battery box can still receive the old one, they have simplified by unifying on the previous one...

Yes ! to conclude, 4, 5 or 5.5Ah as soon as it fits the battery box, it will work Xavier
