I believe that Yamaha introduced the white-blue 3 stripe into the UK in 1983.
Was this only for the LC350 or was the 250 available in the same livery? The reason I ask is that I have only seen this colour on 350's.
Second question - did the front muddy have the 3 stripe or was it left plain white?
All help appreciated. Thanks.

3 stripe livery didn't have a decal on the front mudguard, even tho aftermarket decal sets are supplied with one.

I was led to believe that the 3 stripe came out in '82 as the first power valve came out in '83?

I was led to believe that the 3 stripe came out in '82 as the first power valve came out in '83? Depends if they were old stock I've had an 85 lc2 and an 86 n1 As soon as a new model comes out people want it so the old models hang around Steve

I was led to believe that the 3 stripe came out in '82 as the first power valve came out in '83? www.rd350lc.net/pageWORLD-4L0.htmThe way I read it was that Gary means the LC of 1980 & 1981 came with two stripe decals, the three stripe decal LC was released in 1982.

I've always been interested in the 3 stripe white scheme.
I've not seen many of them.
I got a really good condition tail piece a while ago in this scheme. It's almost too good to paint over, and looks almost NOS, so I did wonder whether to do a paint set to match.

I've a 1983 registered 250LC which states 'white' as colour on the V5 hence I thought i would give it a blue 3 stripe colour scheme if this was appropriate for the year. I guess it may well have been manufactured in 82. The muddy is a mystery, as the brochures do seem to show no decal, but all the bikes i've seen do have the stripes on the muddy. Muttsnuts bought one new in 84 with the stripes on. I'm wondering if Yamaha had a change of heart after the brochures were published.
Thanks for your comments cheers.

If you check the Fowlers online parts fiche it does not list a decal for the '82 350LC front mudguard. www.fowlersparts.co.uk/parts/4041357/rd350lc-4l0-1982-999-b/fenderOEB

I had an 84 black 3 stripe and checking old photos doesn't appear to have decal on the front mudguard.

Seemingly the UK was the "Dumping Ground" for remaindered product. Rest of World LC production /sales ended with the 82 model year. Change the decals and the twits will buy.

Maybe so. But personally I'm glad they dumped them in the UK as I wasn't old enough to own one in 1982 and I wanted an LC not a YPVS in 1984. I wasn't interested in the colour, just wanted one.
