Anyone ever done this on this site? I have been thinking long n hard about what wheels to fit to my rebuild. Whether to go new 3 or 5 spoke alloys or even spoked ala early tz. I want 18 in wheels I don't want a modern ish 17 in rgv type. Seen a couple of pics of spoked and like the look. I am guessing early Rd 400 hubs would be best. Any thoughts appreciated Cheers

Tz wheels do not have a cush drive.

Yes I did think of that, I know the rd rear hub does and is very similar to the 4L1 rear cush drive. But I do need a Tz front. Ta

I think old RD350 aircooled rear wheel may be suitable.

You could use TDR250 hubs and re-spoke and re-rim to 17"

Happy to have a Tdr rear but front is no good as it has only 1 disc.

Tz front has no speedo drive. I have twin disk on mine but not sure what the hub is.probably not rd i beleive they were ony single disc.maybe tx xs or similar. Would post up some piks but haven't worked that one out yet...

Maybe XS650, as RD400 use XS650 forks to get two caliper mounts.

IIRC RD400 Hubs were the way to go.. Hard to find though. Personally I like the look of the Big Brake drum.. Besides they work a helluvalot better(easier to modulate) than the early Rear Disc setups. If that matters? Many don't Street use the rear brake except for hill holding so that may be a moot point though. XS type rear rims are of small diameter.. Useless imo. Best IMO is the RD hubs laced to new alloy rims of decent width ..moderne/bigger than the bicycle size ones original to an LC Spokes will be lovely. But they will Not be inexpensive OR lighter than cast wheels. G'luck and post piccies when done.

Back in the day I used an SR500 front hub. Fits LC twin disks no probs and has a speedo drive. I used a TZ rear and lived without a cush drive. to be honest I didn't really notice...be prepared to play with bearing sizes to fit spindles.

My brother had a Ducati 916 disc and a blue spot caliper on his TDR250 . Fitted on with no mods and would stand the thing on it's nose .
