Rusty internals on the German valver

Upon closer inspection of my German lady she has a case of a rusty tank internally.. turning the petrol brown... is there a sealer anyone can recommend or best way to deal with it? Krust? Thanks in advance

Por15 is probably your best bet for tank sealers
Ideally look for a rust free tank

You could get the tank chemically stripped so you can see any holes, then repair and seal with POR-15.

Used por15 on a 'good' used tank I bought from ebay many years ago. It worked really well and the tank is still leak free today.
Drying time took forever though as far as impatient me remembers.

We have a local company in Cradley Heath call Bevlyn. They do wheels, engine cases etc. Usually about £10 a wheel and £10 to £15 for engine casings. Can get frames done too. I have took parts for other people, as I go past the place pretty much every Saturday. I work In Coventry, so anyone around here can drop parts to me if they want them taking.

I used Caswell on my 84 RZ with great success and it is by far the easiest of all the brands I have tried....

Was going to start a similar thread, but I'll jump in here Tried the vinegar way on a couple of previous tanks, and that worked very well, and seemed to get all the crud and rust out. Fancied trying Deox-C this time, as I just picked up another cheap (and so far quite healthy) LC tank, how much do you need of the deox, will a small pot do, (250g) as it makes about a gallon when diluted.

My advice would be DON'T line any tank unless it's your absolutely last resort to save it.

Tank liners are on the whole pretty sh*te, and although a few have had good results, most don't.

I have spent many hours removing failed liners (removing another one at the moment), none of which I have installed I should add.

Deox-C is great stuff if you just want to de-rust the inside of a tank.

I did a post on my first experience with the stuff a little while ago.

What I learned was..... keep the solution warm (works much quicker then), agitate it frequently, and if you're going to use the tank as is after, don't rinse it out with water after, just get as much of the solution out as possible, let it dry, then just use.

I bought the larger one and made up 20L as I had pinched a chemical drum from work.

Let's you brim the tank with it so is in contact with all the inside constantly.

When done I emptied it back into the drum to use again.

Stuck a hose in the top of the tank and rinsed out.

Emptied tank then sprayed half a tin of wd40 into it to displace the water before drying in front of a heater.

I always stick 50ml of 2 stroke in every tank full of petrol which stops any future rust
