I"m helping a friend carry out a refurb on a rz 250..So of course stripping [ the bike } was the easy part.. I am concerned when rebuilding with fresh paint on the frame that the carbs are going to be a very tight fit.. i have not come across the carb support push / pull bracket before and think it will make refitting very difficult.. So dumb question of the week : When refitting the motor should i have the carbs screwed onto the reed blocks aiready.. Anybody with experience of this model powervalve ? Tks...

Hi, I'm restoring an RZ with the push pull carb set up and they will go in after motor is installed, you have to put them in from the left side of the bike on a little angle then line them up with the manifolds and push one side in first then the other. Not to hard a job. I didn't scratch any paint off but if worried about it wrap a rag around them first. Cheers

I've no idea why Yamaha saw this as an improvement, other than the fact they were easier to balance. But once all the linkages were worn? Still I doubt they thought people would be tinkering 36 years on.
I did notice in the drawing that the inlet rubber clamps have the nut on the outside. Is this right?

I think it was so they could have a push pull throttle cable as some markets might insist on them.

Jon Don't know about being easier to balance to get to the adjustment you've got to move the cdi etc out of the way to get to the screw and sort of yes on the clamp, I put mine on the side screw head facing up as the bottom bracket that holds the carbs together is in the way if you put screw underneath.
