I would change the seat unit and the headlights and a few other bits and pieces and you could yet up with a nice hybrid. All the hard and expensive work already done for you. But I prefer hybrids over standard restorations. Baz

As soon as anyone puts a different back end on an LC (seat unit) They have fecked the bike up IMO
Seen worse than that though

I'd deffo change the headlight, and possibly the seat unit, but other than that it looks ok. All personal taste though

Sorry my comments may have been a bit harsh. I agree, it's the headlights, clocks (or lack of) and seat unit that aren't doing it for me and the colour isn't helping either. Not doubting the quality of the build and with a few changes there is definitely potential for a very nice bike.

Hi I agree, seat and headlights would be on my list to change. It's really hard to get the right race style seat for a pv - I was never happy with the seats I chose for mine. Looks a good quality build though. Dusty

Hi I don't dislike the seat itself, I just don't think it works with the side panels, in my opinion Karl bought my old Ypvs hybrid and fitted a 916 seat, and I think it looks really good on the bike, but there are no side panels on that build so the seat just fits better. There are pics of his bike in the Brands Hatch pics All that said, it's each to their own, and whatever you build, if you like it then that's all that matters, and let the haters hate !! Dusty

Just seen this on butchered classics Now normally I would never think of criticizing anyone for building a bike, but that is just so wrong on many levels, and I'd hate to try and ride it with the rake on the front, way too steep

I agree with Dusty
build the bike you want, as long as you are happy, it matters not what anyone else thinks, it's your bike!

Getting back to the original thread, I would often find myself wandering round the campsite at a scooter run, looking at scooters.
It's a funny thing, but more times than not they would fall into two catagorys: either mostly nice with one or two bad bits, or mostly nasty with one or two good bits.
It's strange how we used to comment on the good bits on a nasty scooter and vice versa.
I think this definately falls into that category. As people have said, I think it's quite a nice bike apart from headlights and speedo.
And the 1000cc thing, is the opposite. Nice paint choice though.
