Well finally finished the 250f, its not a nut and bolt restoration just a really good tidy up as it wasn't bad enough to tear down and start spending a fortune on it, even if i say so myself I'm quite pleased with the outcome. Had to laugh today when I took it down for the MOT and after 10 mins or so the young lad doing the test came through and asked if I could come through to the MOT area, expecting the worst but not sure what on earth it could be that was so serious he had to show me and while he stood looking at it he said "can you show me howto start it, I've been looking for the stater button for the last ten minutes and can't find it anywhere " Que for mechanic working opposite to nearly choke on his tea with laughter then telling him before I could get a word in that it was a kick start and didn't have an electric start option !! Had to smile myself !! Now if anyone can direct me to the page where it tells you hoe to put pictures on here I'll put some up to show my handy work.

That looks really nice mate should be well proud of that! What was involved in the refresh? Not as much as I'd hoped actually, guy I bought it from let it go at a very reasonable price as he was fed up with trying to sourced red tank as it came with a maroon tank on it. Less than an hour later and an add in the wanted section and had a red and white one in the post. So changed tank over, cleaned carbs out and it fired up first kick. Quick spin round the block and back brake was binding something terrible, took caliper off after it had cooled down, pads absolutely knackered and piston boot almost non existent. Removed caliper and removed piston to clean it up only to find the brake fluid was a horrible rusty colour and a lot of sludge behind the piston. Cleaned caliper out and re sprayed it satin black, new brake fluid, piston seal and boot cover, bleed nipple etc and now all good. New right hand piston fitted as it came with the bike and had already had a new left fitted. New chain and sprocket kit which I just happened to have laying around and after that a good clean. Jobs to do still, find some nice exhausts or have the originals re chromed, they're not too bad but would get them done sooner rather than later in order to get the best results, need to sort some more down pipes as originals are ok but not brilliant, head and barrels will be re painted at some point in the near future. Frame is quite tidy and not worth a full strip down for a re paint so just a few places to touch up under the seat and a few minor places here and there. And that's about it so far, I'm sure a few little jobs will need attention when I find them but so far so good !!

Cracking job Spooch and makes me really glad I just spent a lump of the kid's inheritance on a rough but largely complete 400E yesterday!
Still agonising over what colour it will ultimately be though. I know it should be just like yours but I really like the yellow version too, decisions, decisions eh? 🤔
Great to see another RD back on the road and hopefully I can follow suit in the not too distant future.
