Can't remember what standard pilot size is but sounds big. 270 mains with no filter sounds small

Pilots are too big, 25's would be better, mains sound a tad too small, maybe 290's would be better, have you checked to see if the carb's are balanced up as that could be the problem with the cutting in and out of one carb, is it always the same carb ?
Presumably it rev's cleanly when in neutral on the bench/stand, so is only doing it when under load e.g. being ridden ?

I'd also say fit a filter, drill the lid and panel under the filter if you like but it's no restriction
I'm getting upper 70''s hp with airbox and standard filter (lid drilled)

Ok so I've rebalanced carbs today lollystick I think I've got that right just took it out for the starts runs fine first five minutes on lanes it felt real good then got down too main road she got up to 65 -70 then started dying back then it was 60 flat back down to one cylinder coming home ??😢 Would wrong jets or no air filter cause this ? Forgot too say coming home round lanes was on one then suddenly back too two pots Ideas please folks

If it's way rich on the pilot it will run till it gets warm as if on choke then struggle
Also did you do the float levels from the metal face or the gasket face.
It should be the metal face at the cut out.
Electrics can also cause problems as they heat up and fail but as u our car settings are suspect I'd deal with that issue first. After all everything but the coil is new

Hi Steve thanks for replys I had someone set up the carbs as I'm a bit clueless with them but it would never start so I doubt he ever got it far up the road ? For testing I may just order some jets & pilots & air filter is it easy to set up these carbs as not sure how you measure them ? Ta

have you tried seeing what the fuel flow is like from the tap, and assume the fuel cap is venting ok, could it be one carb is running out of fuel, and then refilling when you slow down? can you check the PV's are opening ok, but not sure what effect this has on performance, when thrashing it along a road.

Ok that's a good point mr bolt it has another fuel cap fitted a while ago now though I must add I've fitted a set of Norbos banshee coils on & this would be the first time they're been used ? I may try another set too check there good

Have these carbs been stripped and cleaned properly ? If not they will need an ultrasonic clean and all jets and airways blown through
Wet plugs could indicate not firing properly either
