It's tricky when placing a value on a bike. You could buy a tatty one that needs work- and then have the enjoyment of restoring it yourself. Then you know its been done properly. Some bikes are cosmetically ruff- yet mechanically sound- then focus on cosmetics.
All bikes come with pros and cons.
You could easily spent 2k on a bike and then spend another 2k on getting it perfect. Or 4k and just ride!
For that price I would want to see full receipts for engine work- crank, pump refurb- top end etc, and I would expect the majority of it to be genuine parts, and the paintwork to be of a high standard. A magnet on the tank will tell.
I always take pictures of my rebuild, especially the engine; although, i could never prove my pictures are from the bike. Their asking a lot, yet as said, its so easy to go cheaper and then realise that your wallet starts to get very thin.
A visit in person will tell you all you need to know. And then its worth what your willing to pay.
