Erm, bit nervous as this is only my 2nd post!. Just wanted to say hello and please be gentle with me. Like most lads (and lasses, must be p.c.) into LC's, I am a 40 odd year old brought up on 2 strokes and relied on them for daily transport, back in the day. I have just started the restoration of my 4LO after 11 years of slumber in the shed (the bike, not me!). I am hoping the restorations and advice on this forum will prove inspiring and if not this year, it will be ready for next spring.
Also I have a question - As a spotty teen I subscribed to "Motorcycle Mechanics", and recall an article in the early eighties, of a special built LC. It was a black mars bar bike, with 2x 250lc engines grafted together to make an inline 4, 500cc motor. I'm not sure if this 500 predated Yamaha's V4 500, but it was a truly amazing build to behold, and that was the catalyst for my lifetime passion for all things LC. I wonder if this bike still survives?, and apologise in advance if it has hallowed status amongst LC fans, but I have been "out of the loop" for some time!.
Anyway, thanks to anyone taking the time to read my ramblings, I am looking forward to what seems a good sense of community on here.

Saw the 700 lc at mick abbeys dyno day.

Hi Jackjabba, thanks for your response and welcome. If you are right about the April fool spoof, not only have I made a prize tit of myself, but my fond teenage memories have just gone for a ball of chalk too!!.

Just done some investigation. The magazine was simply called "Mechanics", the article was in the November 1984 issue, and even says on the front cover "backyard RD500LC, is it real?". I so wanted it to be.…………

Welcome, I remember one of the bike mags doing a spoof RD500, it was a tamiya kit with two engines grafted together, may have been an April fool edition. Which Bike? did the article using the engines from two Tamiya kits in one frame - you could see that the seat wasn't squashed at all with the 'rider' sat on it. Still fooled a lot of people though

Hi Welcome to the forum bezzer Graham King is "cinder" on here i believe and has built the 4 cylinder lc. Yamark, or Mark, is currently building a 550 triple lc which is gonna be stunning when finished. And i remember the spoof article on the inline 4 lc. The give away was the thickness of the brake hoses - check them out if gou have the pics. Fooled lots of people back then ! Enjoy the forum Regards

Hi Yes, Dean at Metmachex is building a 4 cylinder 500 with 2 cylinders facing forwards and 2 towards the rear. There are some pics in the latest Practical Sportsbike mag, plus, if you take a look at Metmachex's Facebook page there are more pics on there. That will be an unbelievable bike when done. Pretty sure he made his own crankcases from billet !! Dusty

I have a copy of the feature. It was originally built by Mark crisp as a 500 but later Stan Stephens converted it to 350 top ends. It inspired me to build my 700 4-cylinder . Check out yamarks 550 3-cylinder thread on the rebuilds section as he used the same method

Hi I agree Nigel, not much of an Lc on Dean's build, but very nice none the less. And a pure fluke, when tidying up my shed yesterday, I found this that used to be on my shed wall with other posters; Came from an 80's Performance Bikes back page. Not sure if I have the rest of the mag - it will be buried in the loft somewhere I expect !! Common as muck these multi cylinder builds Dusty
