Try asking the doc for Targen, works really well but has none of the constipation side effects of morphine, oxycontin or oxycodone

Best wishes ATB Nick Take a couple of paracetamol with your morphine buddy, it sounds daft but it really boosts the effect and longevity of the morphine without you having to take too much. Hope you get sorted really soon. Dave.

Hi Des Sorry to hear you are getting messed around mate. Hopefully they will get it right this time. The NHS is in crisis. God forbid you ever need an ambulance in a hurry. I work for the Fire and Rescue service and have just done an Immediate Emergency Care course, as the Fire service are now attending heart attacks/strokes and trauma calls that wouldn't have required our attendance in the past. This is to help out the Ambulance service as they are so over run with calls. That's a 1 week course to attend Red 1 and 2 calls which are basically everything from unconscious not breathing to catastrophic bleeds, overdoses, old people fallen out of bed etc etc. Since we started doing the trial our calls have gone through the roof, and with a lot of the cases, there isn't anything we can do until the ambulance arrives which is often an hour or more. Takes a 3 year full time University course to become a Paramedic. 1 week for a Firefighter to do an IEC and turn up instead And I'm not in the middle of nowhere either - I'm in a borough with 100,000 people bordering London, M25 M3 and M4 motorways, Heathrow airport, major rail links and the Thames. It's not unusual for 1 ambulance to be covering a 20 mile radius at night, hence they are using us to "stop the clock". And whilst we are doing that the Fire Engine is unavailable for Fire calls !! The problem is at the top of the tree - there are a lot of great people working in the Nhs, which has become a war zone, and more and more of the good guys are leaving for private firms or foreign shores. They are suffering burnout on an unprecedented scale. It needs major investment, but I don't see that happening any time soon Dusty

Yea, I'm for voting out too, but there is no guarantee the knobs in charge will spend any money saved in the right way Dusty

Hope it goes well Des, plus a speedy recovery.
Nick, been there, still there with chronic back trouble. Hope your eases soon. I'm four years of managing my back to avoid a triple spinal fuse. Watch using the drugs for too long. It gives you all sorts of problems later on, but I remember the pain - it is horrific.
I don't think we could make one good body between us!

I had 30 staples in each leg. They come out ok, if the nurse has a decent grip on the removal tool. If not and it flicks to the side, then that stings a bit! Stitches and glue is unusual 'cos its a big deep wound. Great to hear you're ok.

Both knees really good now thanks. It hurts like hell for the first three weeks so your almost over the worst. It takes many months for the swelling to totally go and its this that limits the movement. Just keep on the go as much as you can, push it harder when you feel you can and you will be fine. The physio's recommend regular ice packs to reduce the swelling.
