On the lc history page it's says that a 31k rec/reg will not work with a F11 or an R stator. Is this only plug wiring or is electrical incompatibility

both, the 31k is the same as an LC, so has 6 wires going to it, the F2 has 5 wires, one being earth and only one live, the 31k has 2 lives, one switched one permanent, its all to do with half wave and full wave rectifirs, but I won't bore you with the science - but they are incompatible

I am running a LC 6 wire reg with a F2 stator on my hybrid been on for years with no problems That's interesting John as strictly speaking that shouldn't work too well, it won't regulate correctly, but if you haven't boiled a battery and its not gone flat then I can only assume they are ok, and your running it so the proof is there, its not something I would have tried as logic says otherwise normally ! so quick question, presumably you wired the brown wire into the loom and left the red (premanent live) off, or did you run the permanent live back to the battery as well ?

I did not wire it in my mate did so i will have a look tomorrow and report back with which wires go where Dave I have put 2 new batteries on in 6 years but they where taken off the bike and left in the shed over winter without charging them and when i came to charge them after 5 months they would not hold charge so you could be right Dave I just put the battery not holding charge with them being left so long I will keep a check this year and check what the battery is charging at

The wiring is as follows Dave the 3 whites go to any of the whites the red to red the black to a good earth on the the frame and the brown runs into the red and yellow for the head light as it goes into the fuse box hth
