Does a 1976 C Clutch fit a 1977 D engine?

so long as you keep the 2 primary gears matched then it should all be fine

Does that mean I could fit a 68 tooth 250 clutch with a 250 primary gear?

I am being told you should be ok to fit the 250 clutch so long as the primaries are swapped as a set and from same model e.g D to D and E to E

Does that mean I could fit a 68 tooth 250 clutch with a 250 primary gear? If the swap works don't forget you will need to run the 22T gear on the worm shaft and not the 21T. This would reduce the oil to the motor. As 400c/d oiled less anyway than 400e/f, be careful.

Ah, good catch that Gary, not really thought about the oil pump, but your right, they are 1 tooth different
