hi all I've just got a Swiss model rd250 ypvs its just been uk registered and was wondering about where I can find info on this bike as it differs from the UK spec 250lc, and I presume as its the same shape as the UK 350 lc 31k model many parts will be inter changeable with this model, any help and info appreciated

Yes you are right, it's written on the advertising brochure !
I own a '86 RD350F2 model from Switzerland (1WU model) and it was restricted at the inlet of the exhaust with a welded restrictor.
If your exhausts are restricted, then they should be stamped 31L-14711 and 31L-14721

Everything is interchangeable but I think the exhausts, stator, carbs and cdi are restricted on the 250 stator and CDI are not, because all ( 250 or 350 ypvs ) have 29L ( 29K ), yes carbs are 29L, i had few engines from Swiss and allso 1WU

Think you should sell me yours ;-) Steve

hi ive checked my exhausts and they are stamped 14711 and 14721 so it seems they are restricted pipes does this then mean that its likely there is a washer at the inlet welded in place, if so and if this is removed would there be much if any gain also does anyone know what the standard sprocket size is for front and rear, thanks in advance

Hi Bob,
are they stamped 31L before 14711 and 14721 because all RD350LC pipes are stanmped 14711 and 14721 and the prefix 4L0, 31K, 31L, 1UA... gives the model.

The equivalent Japanese RD250 YPVS '83 model "29L" was not restricted so since your pipes are stamped 31L it means they are different otherwise they should have been the same than Japanese market. So check at the inlet of the exhaust if there is a welded restrictor.
