Hello Folks
New Member with a story: Just recovered my 1979 Daytona Special after being stolen a year and a half ago. It's been in storage for quite some time up until it got stolen. Over the years I was going to bring her out but never got around to doing it. Now that I got her back it's time to make her street worthy again.
Bike Spec's: Tom Turner Big Bore Kit 424cc Tom Turner Porting 34mm Mikuni's RZ 350 Reeds Reed Balance Can TT Chambers
After I got it back, it seems the kick stand forgot to come with it, and I haven't found one yet so I'm still looking, so before it goes on the road I'll have to go thru just about everything including getting the engine re-sealed. So I'll update as I progress. And I looked for RD Forums but didn't find much ?

It was a Police recovery, they had come a cross a stash of motorcycle parts and complete bikes and ran vin numbers & license plates and found mine was reported stolen. Then $455.00 later and 4 hrs of drive time I got her back.
The bike was stolen from where I had it stored, over the years I've been wanting to put her back on the street but never got around to it. Now I got her back I am going to put her back on the street, hopefully this summer as funds permit.

I had parked the Daytona Special after I picked up my RZ, but then I got clipped in an intersection.

The white sheet in the background is covering my Yamaha YZ 490 which was also stolen, but that hasn't been recovered yet.

I had already picked up a new fairing for the RZ before the Daytona was stolen and was going to get it back on the street first, fate has changed my plans.

I just bought another tank for the Daytona the old one is shot. The one I just bought is crunched on the left side from the handle bars, but the inside is clean, so I hope it can be repaired without out costing an arm & a leg. I'll have it by end of the week. The Good Side: The Bad Side:

Good luck with the build. No worries about post count. To be honest it's nice to have a bike you know a bit of history about. So many are just purchased by a new owner and restored without ever really knowing anything about its past. That's one thing you can't buy. Great job with the pics keep em coming. That's a nice 500 you have there too. Shame you got knocked down the road.
