Hi
Dismantled the cush drive on my F2 tonight and found that someone had added thin sheets of aluminium or hard plastic between the rubbers. Is this a performance mod? Condition of rubbers looks OK.

I've heard of pieces of innertube cut up and used to take the slack before.

I did the same on my suzuki gp100 work bike(owned from new,now 36 yrs old with 98.000 miles on clock!) I did it to take up play in worn Cush rubbers,so I suspect the same been done to yours,it's a common bodge!

It would be one hell of a long thread. The bike is in immaculate condition, and I could tell a few stories about our time together.I was a 19 yr old apprentice when I bought it and know I 56 yrs old and looking forward to retirement! I will see if my mate will post a picture of it on forum. Funny thing is back in the day there were loads of these gp100"s around as work bikes, now I think mine the only one still in daily use in plymouth. Baz

Hi Bazzer, I read your post at my work last night about your GP100 on my phone. The first thing I thought was, Wow ! I wonder how many rebores and re-builds etc its had? if its done 98000 miles. As I see others are interested in your GP100, I also would be keen to see it. I also have had my Zed since I was an apprentice, and it was NEVER off the road or not MOT,d until 3 or so years ago when I put my LC back on the road. I Have owned my Zed for 28 years, The only reason I sold my very first LC was to buy my Zed, and I always regretted selling the LC, so now I have my LC back on the road, Id like to get my old Zed back on the road again too. Was it a GP 100 or a GP 125 they had in the 1985 film Restless Natives ? We watched Restless Natives again recently for the first time since..... I had it on a VHS cassette, taped off the telly years ago. I enjoyed it lots, cant be many films that you see MK 2 escorts chasing GP100,s/125,s about. steven. www.imdb.com/title/tt0089904/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restless_Natives

It started life as a gp100u,wire wheels and drum brakes,in blue. It now has 125 top-end(done about 15 yrs ago-bought a scrap gp125)disc brake, alloy wheels, and is sprayed in ford focus st orange, had my 2 race bikes done in that colour so did gp100 at the same time. It had new crank at 65,000 and again at 93,000 been rebored at 35,000, 65,000 and. 93,000. My mate going to try and post picture of it! Baz

Looking forward to the pictures.
I was expecting a “Triggers Broom” tale, but it sounds far from it!

Actually the rubbers do not look worn but can not tell if they have shrunk.
