Hello chaps, i have a few speedo's and rev counters but the glass dials are marked and have light scratches. Has any one a good method for cleaning and restoring the glass as i have noticed they are convex which makes them a bit special.

in the old days when I was an apprentice we use to use Brasso (not sure if you can still get it), but basically just keep polishing the glass with that until the scratches disappear, I still do it when I get a scratch face on some clocks, but the Brasso is getting low these days !

They should polish out, get some scratch remover and use a small polishing bit in a drill on low speed, it takes a bit of time but does work.

...talking of marks on the inside looking like scratches... My brother in law called me the other day, he was in a tizzy about getting a new windscreen for his not-yet-a-year-old-4x4. Hmm, it has lane guidance, auto wipers that work via the screen. seems he doesnt know how but its got scratched and its right in front of his vision. we spoke at length about options and he'd rung everyone he could think of to get it polihsed or replaced and it was going to cost $600 (300quid) min. hmm... I went over there at the weekend and had a look. 10 secs of sitting the drivers seat i had it removed. he was astounded. a bit of spit removed the (im guessing) sneeze mark from his screen. yuk. cue BIL looking sheepish and his wife shouting at him for being an idiot. My work is done for another week lol.

Main trick is to keep it wet and dont let it get too hot, otherwise pretty easy
