That sounds brilliant... I have read and re read this thread several times now.... totally awesome... you deserve the results and really hope any teething problems you get are only small ones when you get to prep for the road... saw it in the flesh at Stafford and was blown away with the finished bike... bring on the spring..! Brilliant mate, just brilliant !! Music to our ears. I had no doubt she would fire up Of course there are always teething problems and tweaks to do - even a standard build has those so this is just simply AWESOME !! Roll on spring Dusty

so great to hear the beast awake- and tell us- and sorry if I missed this in the thread.....do you have an engineering background or what made you think you could do this? Thanks mate. My background is not that interesting, just very keen on bikes. I used to work for Honda GB when I was young ( I started at 15 as a Saturday boy), I used to service and work on my brothers (and his mates) bikes, they were older than me by a couple of years. Trained and worked as an optician, I think that's where a bit of OCD and precision came in. Re trained as a plumber, plasterer, electrician when working for my father in law. I now run a bathroom installation company, my 3 boys are all in the construction industry(2 of them work with me).
My mother used to win awards for her patch work - gifted with her hands (she's no longer alive) My father, again good with his hands, taught me everything I know (he was an optician, again, he's no longer with us)
So no engineering background, just a good genetic code , and seeing Allen Millyards work and a few articles in magazines on adding cylinders to engines got the bug started in me. When Harry Hawkins said he would modify my crankcases for me (Harry's done a few of these), that's when the thread started.
Without Harry and Graham King, I'm not sure how far I would have got. Their kindness and help have been immeasurable.
Mark

Thanks for indulging us all with that background- you certainly didnt waste the talents you inherited.... curiosity, discipline, attention to detail, and a distinct lack of fear.....can't wait to see your next project.

Bike sounds fantastic, some very clever engineering and a really original looking LC but with a fantastic twist once you start to look closer.

Thanks peebee, I'm so pleased that my write up has entertained a few people on here. Doing a fair bit of the fabrication myself has made the build very rewarding. I hope it will inspire a few people to "have a go" and push a few boundaries.
Thanks for your kind words
Cheers, Mark

Hi Mark,
What can i say that hasn't already been said, it looks and sounds the nutzs, your engineering abilities, attention to detail are first class, it was an amazing build, dribble dribble.
No sitting idle though, whens the next project starting?

I figure I've kind of "hogged" the restorations section for long enough now, so I'll start the next build thread next year.

Please do an YPVS four for your next project!
I have two engines laying around and could use some inspiration and guidance how to join them.
