Hi to all. 30 years after my White/Blue 1981 250LC was stolen, I've just bought another one, same year, same colours. Drove 377 miles from Inverness to Leeds starting at 04:50am yesterday morning to buy UFW517W from Kevin at K.P. Motorcycles. I'm delighted with it, He restored it to a very good standard but it's not perfect, I don't want perfect because I'd worry too much about anything happening to it but I'm planning to improve the things that can lift it a bit like clock covers, switch gear and a headlamp shell. Rode it when I got home today and I'm absolutely loving it. It's got a Km speedo and orange reflectors on the rad cowl. Kevin said he thought it was a German import but wasn't sure. Anyone know if there's a way I can tell? I don't think it's restricted as it seems to go too well, it was pulling 10,000rpm in top which makes me wonder if the Rev counter is dodgy? Was wondering if a set of new clock faces off eBay would successfully convert from Km to MPH? About me, I was a bike mechanic for 14years, Worked for VOSA as a vehicle examiner for 12 years and now run my own garage specialising in VW/Audi group cars and vans. When the original bike (AAS162W) got stolen, I heard a rumour that it was thrown off a local pier by the low-life when they were done with it. I missed it so much that I even went to the extent of getting a diver to search the water around said pier, but to no avail. I'll just need to ride this one as much as possible to make up for lost time! ? I'm sure you'll see me popping up here from time to time in the future.

Hi Russie Welcome to the forum mate. Great intro too Sounds like you are gonna enjoy your new bike. The parts you mention changing are still all available - check out Norbo's shop on this site - he sells new old stock clock cases, pattern headlights and switchgear, plus there are loads of rebuild threads that are worth a look. Enjoy Dusty

Hi russie,
welcome to the forum mate - they're a decent bunch on here. I had a bike stolen once and I shall never forget how much it hurt - great that you've got a decent replacement now, let's hope you have a bit more luck this time around

Hi Russie, Welcome aboard. Liked the story, mind you I sometimes feel like throwing my LCs off a pier!!! I'm just North of Perth so might see you on the road one of these days (when I get my act together and finally finish one of the bikes). Enjoy the LC whilst the rain is still warm.

Here's a couple of pics of my new bike. Still hunting for any of old. I've taken the orange reflectors off and it turns out they weren't original, just someones's after thought, so that was a red herring about where it came from. Most likely it's a German import?

Looks a nice one !, I bought a second hand rad guard off eBay that had those reflectors on so guessed it was from an import , I left them on as I thought it would leave a fade mark

Your right there Wio. I put it up there and all I did was changed a spark plug and dried it off after a wash. My knees are wrecked from years of abuse. When I ride, I've got old socks with the toes cut out which I pull up around my knees! Almost geriatric lol!

An ex girlfriend from the first LC era shared this to me on Facebook . Remember the bike very well but I think I've blanked the hair from my memory. ( she was a hairdresser and I was her crash test dummy)
