I use Silkolene light gear oil, as I am sure others will on here. The problem with car oil is that it has friction modifiers and other additives in it. Great for your car engine, not so good for your wet clutch!

I to used ATF which was good , nice and light , then I moved on to Coma mineral Gl-4 transmission oil which again is nice and light but also very slick on changing gear. £6 quid a litre from Wilkinsons. Seriously!

As it's now made, get a light 75w gear oil for gearboxes with wet clutch. In the 80s I used Castrol GTX in LCs I had then, but as there is a product available to do the job, why not use it. Don't use a normal care engine oil if you bong get a gear oil, like posts above use bike oil!

Over the last five years or so I've only used Halfords own brand 10w/40 motorcycle gear oil on my Two strokes. Never any clutch slip, dodgy neutrals, or exploding gearboxes. It states on the bottle that it's as good as leading brands.

Going back to my farming and tractor repair days and all the information gathered over the years I use a Massey Ferguson 10w-30 transmission oil . It meets lots of specs and is made for heavy duty gearboxes , roller bearings and multiplate wet clutches found in powershift transmissions.
I have had no issues with clutch slip/drag or poor gearchange .
I have a 20 litre drum, so even if I change it every 1000 miles it should keep me a while , oh and it was free , used to get loads of oil , still got drums of gear oil .
ATF is good for the clutch but doesn't have the 'hang on' as a gear oil to help gearchange.

is this oil suitable for a ypvs engine thanks Yep, YPVS and LC boxes are pretty much identical so same oil requirements apply.

I just changed mine last weekend, I used Motul Transoil 10-30 +1 just ordered some more for an oil change at the weekend, been using it for years, great stuff, specifically for 2T bikes with wet clutches, not cheap, but she is worth it.
