Hi, As some may know I suffer with MS and really wanted to build another Hybrid before things got worse, well im now borderline as to if I will complete and ride due to my health and the most recent issue is the loss of strength and pain in my right arm (some things I can do left handed ) has got me unsure if I should sell it and move on? Im really gutted about this too. Thing is im not sure what its worth in its current state, most of it is new and really all it needs now is a paint job and a set of footpegs. There are a few minor jobs that need doing but they are minor a few tweeks here and there. No Pics as yet, if im well over the next week ill try and get some but to be honest its your average RGV/YPVS/4L0 Hybrid. Spec is as follows: Powdercoated 4L1 frame with tie bar mounts NK racing custom yokes to fit RGV forks anodised black. RGV forks rebuilt by Steve Jordan and anodised black. New Metmachex swing arm for RGV rear. Tyga rear caliper mount and Brembo rear Caliper. Fully rebuilt RGV brake calipers with stainless pistons. Fully re built rear master cylinder with honda type reservoir. Galfer wave disks all around. Venhill black brake lines all around. New Pads all around RGV 17" wheels painted black with polished Rims and new bearings. New pilot tyres. New RGV cush and Rubbers New clock cases. F2 YPVS loom. Clocks modified to suit loom (Indicator idiot lights work as they should) Zeeltronic ignition and PV controller. Banshee Coils Tank in good condition just needs a paint. TZ high flow tap with it. New side panels from Norbo New Belly pan. New RGV front Mudguard Rear tail is ok but needs paint. 1 powdercoated grabrail and 1 black chrome (Not sure what to use) Gully Seat New LED indicators. New Renthal chain and sprockets New Gel battery New fuse box R6 brake master and clutch leaver. R6 clutch cable. New deep core radiator with extra ypvs hose outlet. Black powdercoated foot plates. YPVS Engine... Fully rebuild and not yet run. 4mm crank from Wicked motorsport with TZ bearings. Wiseco billet pistons with offset pin on 0.5mm over. Tuned for long stroke and blue printed by Martin77 New seals all around. Billet powervalves and new bushes. Head reprofiled for longstroke by Slinger Straight cur primary gears Wiseco billet clutch basket and new rubbers. quick shift gear star. New heavy duty clutch Anti seize clutch bearing kit. Lock out clutch kit. Billet lock out clutch case with clear window anodised in black. Billet adjustable timing plate Billet inlet manifolds with internal crossover Vforce 4 reeds PWK 28 carbs with pipercross pod filters. Black chormed pipes by Martin 77 with carbon Cans. New silicon hoses High flow impeller. Missing - Footpegs and speedo cable. So whats all that worth? I dont want to break as I cant really. Cheers, Mike

Sorry to here that you wont be up to completing your build.

It's all dependant on what my neurologist says next week, if I'm likely to get some or all my strength back in my arm then I may keep it. I've no idea at all what I'd ask for it.
Cheers, Mike

Kind words lads I'm touched. I've an MRI next Wednesday followed by the neuro the week after. I could just be panicking over nothing and I really hope so. Thanks for the offer of help it means a lot. Let's see how the appointments go before I make a firm decision. I just wondered in the state it's in what it was worth.
Standby for next weeks reply.
Cheers, Mike

I know partly what your up against mate being as my wife is 8 years into being diagnosed with Ms/ Devics disease.A proper roller coaster of ups and downs. Hopefully your just having a temporary set back and all will be well in a couple of weeks. I'm in Essex if that's close enough to offer any help if not I'm pretty sure someone else will be. Good Luck mate with whatever you decide,Matt,,

Hi Mike Sorry to hear you've been unwell. As you probably know, I injured my back late last year and I didn't think I would be able to build/ride my bikes again at one point. But things have improved enough for me to do another Lc hybrid, and 6 months ago I thought that would never happen. I did sell my F2 as a rolling chassis as the race seat would have been impossible for me, but I got an Lc and have really enjoyed tinkering with it when I feel able. If you don't need the money from the bike, I would seriously hang on to it. You are obviously really "in to it" judging by the amount of work and money you have spent on it and you will struggle to recoup what you have invested. A case in point - my F2 engine cost me £1000 to rebuild without the initial cost of the engine itself. Is it worth that second hand bearing in mind it has done zero road miles ? Answer is no, and I would be mad to sell it for less than the rebuild cost. When you are feeling s**t, selling your pride and joy for less money than it's cost you wont make you feel any better !! Lots of fellas offered me help when my back was bad, and it will be the same for you I'm sure. I think you are fairly local to me, so if you need a hand, just ask Good luck Dusty

Lads cheers.
Yogi glad your other half is doing well I'm still quite new to this. It's hard for me to accept that 2 years ago I was an active serviceman in Afghanistan....I was releaved of duty due to the disease after 25yrs in uniform and since leaving am now a near cripple. I refuse to use sticks or aids too. Chin up move on. Your Mrs must get these ow points too. And I'm sure it never gets easy. I hope she continues to manage well.
Dusty thanks, your quite right in all you said. I'm considering getting my son to finish the project under instruction which will be a nice change.
Cheers, Mike

It would be a tragic if you didn't get to finish it Mike. And what a great bunch of guys on this forum that are happy to help you do that! I hope the MRI is better than you think, and you get the chance to finish it off and ride it mate. All the best.

+ at least 6 on don't sell it
Father son rebuild is a great idea, never got to do that with my dad a I'm 51 now
Help from you're local guys on here would be invaluable too and it gives you something to tak your mind off things
You can do what you can when you can and who knows you may even be able to ride it on your better days
Like Dusty I had a back problem, two fractured vertebrae which were fused 18 months ago and like Dusty thought I'd never ride again
My rebuild kept me going and I got a lot of online help here (I live down under)
I couldn't do everything I'd no strength in my arms or legs, but little bits here and there certainly was good for the sense of being and a modicum of achievement
I'd been in some really dark places and this helped me come out of them 7 months off work can do that too you
Now I ride when I can and that satisfaction is evident every time someone comes up and pours over the bike, and after a few photos ask , what is it it? Or is that an RD?
So stick with it, it will all be worth it in the end and you get to pass on that old school enthusiasm to your son and that my friend will be the best thing you can think of
All the best take care and good luck with it all

Hope all goes well for you, but if not......and your physical strength does not return, you can look at modifying the bike until you can use it, one way or another. Others have managed to keep riding. Check out :- www.nabd.org.uk/You can always make it a trike :-O Let us know where you are and what you need doing and lots of us on here will do what we can to help. Good luck

Best of luck to you. We are getting to 'that age' now where more and more things can go wrong with us. Hope you can complete the build and enjoy it for a while, as you deserve.

Hi I echo everything said on here, especially hblair. When I had the MRI on my back in December, they discovered a tumor in my L4 vertebrae, which was obviously a worry. Had to wait 3 weeks to see a consultant, another 3 weeks for a bone scan and then 3 weeks for the results. My family have very busy lives, and because I do shift work I am often home on my own. Having the bike in the garage was a great distraction - I concentrated my mind on it as much as possible and didn't give too much thought to my back issues. We all need a focus, especially when we are unwell, and your hybrid sounds the perfect tonic, both for the good days and the bad. Hang on in there and start thinking what you are going to do to the bike next !! Dusty

Oh, forgot to mention, I am now back riding my Fz1 again. About an hour is enough, any more and my back starts telling me to stop, but 6 months ago I never thought I would get back on it at all. Onwards and upwards mate Dusty
