Not sure about checking coils but I had an issue with my 400D, ended up being a charging fault , points models need a fully charged battery to run and get a spark, have checked all wiring, connections, fuses? I think I have pair of coils in shed shall check after for you

Cheers Tony Iam about to try a old coil of my 350LC looks the same wiring, also been told a X7 coil will work too as its a single coil with two HT leads coming off it. THE JOYS OF TWO STROKES !!

its more likely your pickup coil that has gone, test it with a meter, should read 87 ohms +/- 10% at 20 degress, also check your stator windings (low/high ignition coils), also don't forget about the cdi, could be that as well
the E and F models will run with a flat battery, the C/D models won't
HTH

Update on no spark on bike, checked everything and fitted a spare LC coil still no spark?? fitted original coil back and rested plugs on cylinder head to check for spark and still nothing ? so put the plugs back in kicked it over and to my amazement the bike starts and runs ??
However when I take the plugs back out and check for spark nothing?? put them back in bike and it starts and runs ?? Hows that ??

These bikes are quite well known for not having a very good spark. Try it when it gets a bit darker and you should see it. And remember you need both plugs connected and earthed at the same time for the system to work.
