If it has a knurled type end like this RD125 Mk2/3 or TZR125 there is a small phillips screw which goes up the centre of the spindle. Look on the round end you should see a hole in it. You'll need something like a small watchmakers screw driver to get it out.

Not sure about the F2, but some of these knobs also unscrew, left handed thread i think. the issue is holding the rod while you do it, if you can put something like a blunt screwdriver down the hole it may help.

Done about half a dozen and were all reverse threaded. As you say stich a jewelers screwdriver down the hole to give some resistance. Most were not tight but had one I had to remove the face and get a pair of long nose pliers at it Steve

I think the later ones have the screw down the centre. The 250/350LC's screw on if memory serves me correctly.

Ive also had one that I had to grip with pliers, once Id part stripped the unit out of the case, thing spun off easy as pie with them holding it too.
