Interesting to see what it goes for as the location could be a problem for many. I'd still be amazed if it went for close to the starting bid as the condition doesn't look too bad for an original example. Love the F1 as it's rare and before Yamaha messed about with the carburettor and ignition on the F2, but then I would say that

Agree the F1 is the best of the lot. I've owned a 4lo and currently have an F2.

About 3hours drive from me..anything to look out for when buying an f1? Only ever had an lc..would be a full strip and rebuild I think on that..all there though! Only things you have to worry about on an F1 are the bits that are specific to it and hard to find. Straight handlebars loom in good condition pipes correct ones and good Make sure it runs to prove the stator and cdi think there should be a plastic cover over the electrics at the headstock Screen and fairing genuine and good nick Still has the original ignition switch without the steering lock. The lock is on the headstock. Make sure it had the relevant docs to ease registering of course matching numbers correct for an F1 It does look like a good buy even at the 2.5k Steve

Yes there should be, its two pieces, one each side of the fairing bracket where it joins the headstock.

Aren't the headstock covers on there...I couldn't swear to it, but I think I can see one at least. If not, pretty sure I've seen them in Norbo's shop for not much at all.

yes they are there, I hadnt see the link when I posted... it hadnt been put up at that point... my post was just to confirm MLC's comment about those covers, hence me quoting him.
Norbo doesnt sell those covers, One of them has been NLA for years, the other might still be available, it used to be. Used is the only way to get em both now, and they dont come up often at all.

Maybe I am. I'd never even noticed those two covers just below the ignition switch, which is probably what you mean. They hide a bunch of wires. Just been to have a look at my own bike and seen them.

Let us know what it's like when you pick it up as it's what you think that really matters. I can only think that the location of it put things massively in your favour. How far away are you?

Although it doesn't NECESSARILY mean a lot, he obviously values it at around £2500 with the 'Buy it now', so from the outside it looks like you've done very well.

Well I said right back in the early posts that if you could score this for the start price it would be a steal, and it seems there was no reserve so you did indeed get it for a great price. I cant wait to see what its really like, it looks like a great start point for a resto... be quick and you could join in the build off thats currently going on!

Google maps says 3hours..not to bad..Will have to get the loan of a van though. contacted him before asking a few questions..he said "Yes matching numbers.. it runs it was exported from UK 2004 I've had her last 4yrs won best classic bike show 18 months ago 3 previous owners to my knowledge" engine number is 31K0550##..checked on rd350.net and it relates to that model and year..Will let yous know how I get on Dave
