Hi , I'm new to LC forum and am in dire need of advice. I bought an LC2 last Oct and has always been difficult to start, it kicks back violently several times before eventually starting... if it starts at all, plus it has broken down several times. I am now running new 240 jets with allspeeds, new dynatek coils, new zeeltronic CDI, new spark plugs, plus I have renewed the woodruff key for the rotor. It still kicks like a mule before starting even when warm! When it does start, it runs well and will tick over nicely. Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks,
Matt

Lc2 with standard compression usually very easy to start.
As it runs on once started and you have changed everything else I would get the stator coils checked to make sure the low speed winding and pick up coil are within spec as sounds like something is wrong at kicking ram

Sorry OP, couldnt resist He he...My mate had some time off work years ago, his XR600 kicked back and ripped some ligaments in his ankle, he fell off to the side of it shouting many expletives & I just managed to catch the bike before it landed on him..happy memories!

Hi Steve, I've checked stator, red to brown, green to brown and got inconsistent readings, thought it was cheap multi-meter, will get new one and try again, or would you get it checked professionally? If it's the stator, any suggestions on where to get a replacement? There's one on ebay at the moment but it looks a bit rough. Wemoto do one also, any idea if there're ok?
Thanks, Matt

Thanks, Matt Not heard anything about the we motor ones. Multi meters are usually quite accurate to a certain percentage so if all over the place it may be knackered. Got a rotor but no stator unfortunately. Check with a different meter first for a second opinion Steve

Beyond a knackered Stator.. Bungled (too advanced) timings can cause such recalcitrant behavior.

Does sound like a timing issue. I got the same on my LC when I had my old setting in my Zeel. I remeber we had to change the lowest timing setting to ease the issue.

Had similar issues with my LC2 and eventually traced the fault to the wiring on the stator at the pick-up end.
Hope that helps.

Tested stator again, high speed windings 5.5 , low speed .235 and .1 on pulser (pick up) coil , which according to Haynes manual should be 115.All wires behind stator are good as are connection blocks. I've thrown caution to the wind, and have just ordered a replacement(made by Electrex) from WWW.Wemoto.com as bike has MOT soon, will get old one rewound at later date. Has anyone on here used these stators before? Thanks Matt
