Hi All
Just wondering do all of the LC2's get the unburnt oil covering the back of the bike?
I certainly do and it covers the rims, the rear cowl, both exhausts, chain guard and the rear disc as well which can't really be healthy
I'am running the original exhausts with cut down baffles (that's how it came)
Any thoughts at all or is it just one of those things with an LC ?
It seems as if when I'am riding along the draft is sucking the exhaust back into and around the back of the bike if you follow.
Cheers
Howard

It's pretty common to get some splatters on the number plate, same as Delbert, but never seen any on the wheel or anywhere else. Check the exhaust outlets - if they are excessively wet then this could be a clue.
I would also be checking the gearbox oil level. You may have another issue which is causing gearbox oil to blow out of the breather on the back of the engine.

I had the same thing when my crank seals went (cheap rubbish from Yambits and never again will I go the economy route). As another poster says, check gearbox oil level. J

Just to check is it both sides as if it's the sprocket side it could be the pushrod on the clutch if adjusted to tight it can draw the gearbox oil out had that happen before

gear box oil appears OK, engine was rebuilt about 700kms ago, will rec heck again and gear shift seal too
Its both sides of the bike
Hope fully not crank seals as they were genuine Yamaha from Norbo
Oil definitely seems excessive and it is definitely burnt oil it black, perhaps because we were running at 20:1 to start with it could be excess still in the pipes coming out

20:1 is excessive and will take some time to clear.

the 20:1 was to run the bike in after the rebuild, two tanks on 20:1
2 on 30:1, 2 on 40:1 and then 2 on 50:1 so far, using Motul 800 premix oil
So short of hoisting the front of the bike up to drain the exhausts I guess I'll have to put up with it for now

might it be fuel leaking through into exhausts when parked up and splattering out of exhaust when running

Hi RDLCL
Taking advice from the engine builder down here, certainly your point is definitely noted I did ask that question myself however he seems very confident given that he has owned 11 of them and raced them too that 50:1 on the Motul 800 is perfectly fine
We shall see
plugs are still good at that ratio they are not white at all and are slightly darker than chocolate brown and are slightly oily
Perhaps I need to go down a jet size as we went up 3 from standard to use the premix initially at 20:1
When I return from my swing I'll post a couple of photos to give an idea of what is happening
Not sure about the fuel in the exhausts the last run was 170kms with a stop half way oil was still evident but not when the bike was warmed up to start with
Cheers for the replies

50 to one will be very very lean on oil not if its jetted accordingly, more oil actually means lean, the latest 2smoke engines run 100-1 you just have to run larger pilots to avoid a seize on closed throttles my big bore ktm 500 mx runs at 50-1, recommended 32-1 was just to lean on stock jetting, and it pogoed every where lol

Different bikes will tolerate different ratios but 50-1 on a power valve is suicide.
Might seem to be running on but it will be eating itself

told ya different bikes need different ratios racers run bikes on the brink of seizing do you want a racer or a reliable road bike?

the idea is a reliable road bike definitely not a racer
just cant explain the volume of oil coming out of the exhausts
it literally covers the back end of the bike from half way down the chin guard and swing arm to the top of the rear cowl

20 to 1 is a high ratio of oil to petrol, and personaly never heard of this to run it in, I run autolube pump on my lc and this was never altered when running in, run my tzr on premix and run that at 35 to 1 only recommendation I have heard for running in is to use a non fully synthetic oil but people on here kow more than me, just my tuppence worth
