Hi All The engine on my Mk2 is loosing oil from somewhere ?? cant see where though. Also when running it doesn't sound too good (loud knocking/ticking noise). What should i do? get a full engine rebuild??. Looked on stan stephens web site and its £200. What exactly does this include???. I'm planning on totally stripping and re-building it but need the engine to be sweet as a starting point. I am prepared to have a go myself, though no real engine experience. Is this a bad idea?? Any suggestions ?? Cheers

If you have it split i allways just rebuild the crank all new and rebore and piston and rings . That way you know its all new. Its not an expensive job with a 125.

Degreased all engine and then took it for a spin, turns out that the breather pipe had been spitting engine oil out which had been running all over the casings. What other reason (other than too much oil) would cause this?? Have drained and gonna re-fill to the correct level to see if this sorts the problem.

when i rebuilt mine jay it cost 200 in parts if your going to all the trouble of splitting it you just as well do all the bearings and seals new clutch plates and springs and when you put it back to gether and start her up she will sound lovely and your mind is at ease

It means pressure in your crankcases is built up....forcing the oil to find an escape route , you need to replace your gaskets and oil seals , and by the sound of it your crank is on its way out if its knocking. Basically your motor needs to be overhauled mate

just drain it and fill it with the right amount of gearbox oil first mate...some people mistakenly fill up the gearbox with engine oil

This sounds thick but i didn't think there would be separate gear box oil ?? Not in the little 125 LC ?? Please advise.

2 stroke oil goes in the tank behind the right hand side panel gear oil goes in the black cap/dipstick by the kickstart lever m8

I thought you meant there was separate gear box oil as well as enging oil, disregarding the 2 stroke stuff. Nice one !!
