My engine tachometer is a bit lazy.
Idle indicates 1000 rpm I pull the throttle and will barely rev above 2000. 350ypvs f1 bike.
Just a note, I run the bike without a battery fitted at the moment. Does it matter? Thanks

Not a good idea to run with no battery
No load on the Genny.
Should not affect the tachograph though. If you rev it do the pv's move. Trigger for the tachograph also does the pv

Didn't check pv movement.

Bloody phone keeps changing tacho to tachograph.
No load probably not do damage. Just the old sparky training kicking in.
If no load on a generator it can generate higher voltages which will be going through the regulator with no battery to absorb the power. Possibility of damage to electrical components in theory

Duff battery which draws to much current may cause overload. Not sure what no battery may cause. All electrics apart from tacho works fine on mine but I will not run it anymore just in case...

Ok so update,
Fitted a new battery and the tachometer is not lazy any more. But my reg/rectifier unit is toasted. Seems that running without a battery damaged the internal diodes in the rectifier.
So I'm now on to get a good one. Just thought to let you all know so avoid running without a battery.
As we say in aviation, you have to learn for mistakes other people did, you canot afford to learn from your own.
