Hi I want to do away with the key and ignition barrel on my F2/Tzr hybrid project as it is so bulky. It cant mount in the usual position, and I am struggling trying to find an alternative place for it. When I originally got the 350Tzr (ugly betty) bike, it had a simple toggle switch that turned the ignition on and off, but that was a custom loom and bears no resemblance to my F2 loom. Any of you guys know which wires I would need to keep so that I could use a toggle switch connected to the connector on the loom ? Cheers Dusty

Did ugly betty run a battery?
If no battery you could just add a toggle switch to the feed to the coil(s).
If running a battery I would make a relay circuit with a toggle switch moving the relay to the main power.
The wiring diagram can show you which wires of the ignition switch plug that you need to join together to make it all work...

Pretty sure the F2 ignition system is independent of battery & the way it is switched off is by earthing it by the ignition or kill switch which uses the black with a white tracer wire.
To be sure can someone post up a diagram as I no longer have a manual.

Depends if you want to ensure everything else is turned off, lights, horn etc.

Think you only need a switch across the red and brown.
The rest is ign kill which if you leave disconnected you just use the kill switch. Others are parking lights

Hi, The Tzr had a battery fitted. So, do I need a relay in the system ? I just want to be able to switch the ignition on and make the system lime, like turning the key to the first position would do. And then disable everything by flicking the switch off again.

Yup if you want to run all the electrics & ignition on just one switch you will need to run two relays wired in parallel off your one switch, one will be a normally open relay which when switched on will liven up all your electrics & the other will be a normally closed relay which will kill the ignition system like the ignition switch does until you switch it on which will break the circuit & allow the ignition system to work. If someone can post up the F2 diagram I can show you how to adapt it.

Are you after a "keyless" ignition Dusty?? I'm sure Yaddy off the two stroke site used a "keyless" ignition using a Fob. You might be as well going on the two stroke site and looking up Yaddy's 2014 build off bike thread. I'm sure he used a remote ignition. I think

Hi, Not keyless as such, just don't want to have to fix the bulky ignition barrel somewhere on the bike. The top yoke is a custom made item - it came on the Ugly Betty Tzr, and has no lugs for the ignition. The Tzr had a toggle switch - flick it on and everything would become live - powervalves would cycle, lights could be turned on/off, and bike could be started. The Tzr had a custom loom, with 4 relays in the system though I don't know what does what. Just thought that if I could do the same with the F2, the switch could be mounted discreetly and easily. Bike electrics are the part of a rebuild that I hate, and I am hoping it's an easy mod. Nik, I have a pic of an F2 wiring diagram, if you have any pointers, that would be great ; Cheers guys Dusty

Hi Dusty I assume you want all the lights, everything to work as normal, just replace the ignition switch with a small switch you can locate somewhere else. If so that can be done by simply unplugging the ignition switch from the loom & making a small sub loom using the plug off the ignition switch, 3 small relays & a switch of your choice. If you want I can make you the sub loom, I enjoy wiring, making looms is one of the favourite parts of my builds.

Nik, thank you, that is a very kind offer, top man !! I'm embarrassed to say I've changed direction (again), and have now found a way of mounting the original barrel on the bike and it's out of the way and not seen. I didn't think it would work, but I fiddled about with it today and I'm pleased with where it fits. Sorry to mess everyone about but I do appreciate the help Need a slightly stronger bracket, so I will look for something at Kempton this weekend. The link to the wiring diagram is right - Kojaycat supplied my wiring diagram and it is really good for tired eyes !! Money well spent. Thanks again Regards Dusty
