Thats pure for looks and not go. Myself and Glyn did a 2-1 pipe and for a 1st effort it did ok but not great. I will develop it more next year I hope. They do sound good though and emit a very strange noise at high rpm lol.

This is the exact opposite of what I have thought about in the past.
I did consider a 1 into 2 expansion for my lambretta (single cylinder).
The thoughts were as follows: By running a smaller bore expansion down both sides of the engine, it would fit under the bodywork much easier. The twin end cans might have more silencing? I was going to tune the lengths slightly differently (maybee 1000 revs or so) so the power and would hopefully be spread over a greater range. There would be more opportunity to mount the lighter expansions to avoid them cracking with engine movement (a common problem).

Liked the way it looked without a can on the end. Would be wicked with an old school micron bean can style baffle in the end. Let me know if you do one Steve

This one It does look nice, would it be possible & if so would it work to install a dividing plate during manufacture for the full length of the pipe which would in effect provide two separate pipes but have the appearance of one. This would of coarse make the internal profile of the pipe D shaped instead of round

Your rite it looks good , Well my outrite performance days are gone , Would look good on a hybrid type of setup as long as it had the good midrange , looks good . What else would you need ? Greg

In my youth I had a micron 2 into 1 expansion chamber on my Suzuki GT185. Looked good and didn't sound as "tinny" as some expansion chambers, more of a rasp to it. I never saw any other 2:1 two stroke exhausts at the time. While it probably didn't make the bike go any faster it didn't seem to make it any slower so I would agree with casho73, sometimes it's not about outright performance.
I'm 99% sure it had a micron sticker on it. Just looked and there was one on ebay that said it was a Micron with stamped as codnor light fabrications ltd.

Are you sure it wasn't a "Piper" They were the only company making them that I remember I had a 3 into 1 on a KH250, didn't do much for the performance, but sounded fantastic.

being a two stroke and being that two strokes have their exhausts designed around the pressure waves emitted to develop power within a rev range and for fuel ingress into the combustion chamber how would two pressure waves 180 Degrees out of phase not cancel each other out?
interesting exhaust all the same

All modern two stroke snowmobile engines use two into one pipes and make impressive power, the older ones it was more common to replace with individual pipes but not done now so the gains must not be there?

The results are in this thread www.rzrd500.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=9552&start=15, as the pipe stands it would work very well for a road bike. Kinda a shame it wasn't taken any further, even a EGT reading would have been nice lol. Some guy in the states fitted it to his hybrid ...............it does make an awesome noise:)

They look different and I do like that, but it would make 1 side look a bit plane and empty . I prefer the look of the one in nicks link to the jap one looks a chunkier and the headers are better.

It's a funny old market when dealing with bikes, any snowmo with a 2-1 exhaust will have a short header to the collector as this works best best for a 2-1. But in the bike market they all seem to have long headers which just don't work that well for a 2-1, I guess it's all a visual thing for bikes and not a performance thing.

Yer gonna try it Again !? Wasn't exactly a roaring success when I watched it. Made a helluva racket though. Unlikely Any tracks would tolerate it and the necessary Silencing would be Massive and problematic, to say the least. Some things are best to let lie :-)
