Generator wiring connector on my recently acquired loom is good but the three white wires from the generator have bullet connectors fitted.
I guess I now have two choices:
1. Source a connector to make the gen wiring as 'new'. 2. Fit bullet connectors to the harness.
Anybody know if the correct connector can be sourced?
I guess that there is a reason that the connector is missing and the bullet connectors fitted, anyone know why??
Cheers

I have the same on mine, i can live with it but if you are a perfectionist it would be annoying

I am not a perfectionist, but if I could fix easily why not?

Your not alone, seems a failry common issue.
I tried in various places to get a connector a couple of years ago but no luck, I would also prefer a "proper" connector if I had a nice new loom...but I didnt, so I bit the bullet (pardon the pun).

Thanks for the replies so far. Any offers for a connector would be appreciated.
I will look on the website posted and if I find anything will post the result.
Anybody know why the OEM connector seems to be replaced by bullet connectors?
Would hate to fix it and find there is a design flaw?

Anybody know why the OEM connector seems to be replaced by bullet connectors? I would guess, not many would have the correct tool, to make the cable ends off properly, and then fit in the replacement plug/socket. (They aren't just standard crimpers) and everyone has access to and can easily fit bullets, even if you ressort to a hammer to connect them. Seen it all before where I work, even guys using pliers to make connectors, that when touched, fall into two bits, because they've used a bit too much pressure

Anybody know why the OEM connector seems to be replaced by bullet connectors? Usually because the wiring has overheated & melted the connector block. OEB

I suspected overheating, anybody know why the wiring overheats?

use the modern AMP type of connector on both ends, take care to female side on the loom, the male side will fit throuch the original hole. A very neat solution and much better than the OEM original.

Had a quick look at the connectors, they look to be a neat solution. Do I need to use a special crimping tool?

yes you need the correct grimping tool, they are around £30 to buy.
I set myself up with all of the right connector blocks and grimper etc, by the time I'd finished getting the basic stuff together I was the neck of £200 down, but then I do a lot of wiring repairs etc, so its worth it to me to set up for it, plus customers always go away happy as you can't tell any repairs have been done as I repalce any knackered old block connectors with the nearest replacement I can find

Had a look on ebay and found a genuine AMP 3 way connector for a couple of quid. Do you know which crimping tool I should be looking for?

F Type
If you look at the terminal side on, it looks like an F, the two arms of the F are the tabs that fold around and onto the wires

Had a look on ebay and found a genuine AMP 3 way connector for a couple of quid. The original connector is 4 way as it also houses the neutral switch/light wire. OEB

Connector from Yambits looks to be the right part, only £4 so will be able to take back to original.
Just hope it does not melt again
